Pot Noodles make me wretch too. In fact, I'm trying to wean myself off ready made meals altogetherand move onto cooking stuff. Frozen Pizza counts as cooking, right?

Ready meals, yuk. sometimes it's just as easy to whip something up from scratch. Not to mention a damned sight healthier

Having said that, get the ones with reduced or low salt levels. My mrs has the odd one from Sainsbury's or M&S. She can't cook.

Make your mind up! Is it easy, or isn't it?

It's easier FOR ME for my wife not to cook, saves another food poisoning episode. Even the dog refuses her cooking more often than not.

what really gets on my nerves is people who add WAAAAAY too much salt to their food BEFORE THEY EVEN TASTE IT!

I only ever add salt to pasta whilst cooking, potatoes whilst cooking and chips, and even then it's like the tiniest amount ever.

As for ready meals containing too much salt, i dont eat them all that often, so the fact i hardly add any salt to my diet from day to day, i can get away with 1 ready meal a week.

    its all about moderation people!

I've got a few of Patak's ready meals ( mainly Jalfrezi ) for when I cannot be bothered cooking.

They are very nice indeed - just a shame the portions are a little on the "smallish" side really

Marks & Spencer Chicken Dopiaza Curry. Its the nicest so called "ready meal" curry ive tasted. Their outstanding actually. I try not to eat too much ready made stuff far to much junk in them, even one ones which say no artificial colours, preservatives or falvourings. Their still crammed with calories, fat and salt.

*** HUH! Ready meals Rule, Asda do nice stuff now, Sainsburys are the kings of Curry (what ever happened to the Piri Piri chaps - it was the best) by far, Tesco have inproved a lot shame about Morrisons (putrid, fetid smelly sock stuff. . . . . In my humble opinion). Pot Noodles RULE! C'n'M are my all time fave but the Bombay Bad Boy is good with lager (cos your too smashed to go to the chippy).

Now, Super Noodles, Hmmmm..... Blasphemy or not (and they do taste ok) are not ready food, and this, I Know, could lead to a new debate!!!! This terrible excuse for a ready meal involves pans, heating water, having to stir stuff etc. Jeez, if your willing to go to those extremes cook a proper meal!

The bench mark for a "Ready meal" is that its.... well..... ready! Try a bag of crisps, now that's a ready meal (well maybe 4 bags).

A hot "ready Meal" is a different beast and involves at least a little prep. I would say to qualify as a ready meal it should involve nothing more than a microwave and a fork (lets face it washing the fork is hassle enough).

Tip for the day: Dont shake/stir the ready meal half way through. It's a waste of time and does not physically alter the conents

    Rant over.......

PS. What you got against salt, it's yummy. You would soon complain if nothing had salt in cos it would all be very bland! Try using more salt and see if there is a directly proportionate increase in "Yummyness" and let the forum know! Pps salt on ready meals is a highly recommended by doctors (well a doctor, my mate.... he does it so it must be ok)
