Well after my findings last night (read my previus post on this thread) your not alone with 800Mhz memory problems with this motherboard, CPU and Ram combination.

Anyway, Looks like your doing your best to resolve.

Can somebody from MESH please keep us informed in your absence Davey.

    Pressure et all

    Quick update

A solution to the RAM issue has been agreed upon.

Long term - Asus will supply a bios update now the fault has been reported by MESH/nVidia and a host of others. A matter on days/weeks until all runs well.

Short term – We will be 'upgrading' all systems in the interim to DD2 900Mhz RAM which is proven to work, at no additional cost. Some '900Mhz' pieces have arrived today and the outstanding balance to arrive on Monday. If any of you want to find out when your order will be going out, unfortunately Davey is away so I would ask you to email your order number to meshresponse@meshcomputers.com where I will check for suggested dispatch dates and pass them on if I can.

Hope this is of some assistance.

Apologies for these delays. Davey will, I beleive, be back on Tues.

    Nick

<rant>you're a fool... all you had to do was wait for this problem to be fixed. You had even been upgraded to 900Mhz DDR2, anyway I hope you enjoy spending your "£1900" somewhere else. If you're soo fussed about the time it takes why don't you build it yourself? </endrant>

The PC is for my son's birthday on Tuesday, I was quoted the 29th of June, which became "next week" due to a delivery problem then "two days" then "tomorrow guaranteed" then "tomorrow, we promise" after a hardware problem, then surprise! "next week" again: So no, I am spending £70 more for a higher specced Alienware PC which will arrive on the date they set. I wouldn't mind if the PC would actually arrive next week all set up properly, but from Mesh's exemplary reputation, I expect it to break down before the end of the week, at least this way I get a better PC from a genuinely reputable company.

More so the fool who waits for a problem to be fixed, only to find the date put back 4 more times, then is plagued with reliability problems from the start. I showed no hostility in my explanation, so expect no simpletons such as yourself to have a rant without knowing the facts. Have some fun ranting on this thread! http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=79075

Good luck to all those sticking the whole way, you really will need it.

Wow! I had an unexpected delivery from Mesh today !!!

    A nice...

    Shiny....

    Invoice
    (Dated 27th June 2006)

Seriously though... It really isn't great customer relations to send out invoices for unshipped, delayed, systems!?

I fully appreciate your position Alexx, but I hope we really don't need all that luck you are wishing us (for the sake of my sanity!). My order is for myself so the time pressure is less although it is to relace my previous defunct Mesh PC!

Having said that the PC will now arrive and sit in it's box for two weeks at least as I will have no spare time to do anything with it (having kept the last weekend and this weekend free of commitments to get the thing set-up) until early august. So it's still a major pain for me.

DaveyW - Are you (Mesh) offering anything to us lot "sticking the whole way" compensate for this debacle and recognise our loyalty (e.g. a 5% / £75 goodwill refund on the system price, free warranty extension/upgrade and a night out with your favourite celebrity)??

As you saw in my original post today mate, I was a lot more polite in the proceedings, blaming nothing on the online mesh team, but then someone stuck their oar in . To be honest, Im not wishing you luck on the delivery date, if you don't need it for a special occasion, its fine to wait, I just hope it won't go wrong technically, both for the sake of the more patient customers, and Mesh themselves who already don't rate too highly in many peoples' books. Any malice was not aimed at you/andy140/other sensible people who ordered the 7950.

Hi Andy, please keep us posted on how it's going over the first few days.

Is the stability problem truely sorted?
    What's the build quality like?

Nothing from Mesh on when mine's actually gonna turn up

    best of luck with alienware

Alienware are now part of "the world's no.1 PC manufacturer".

Before I bought my system from Mesh I tried to order a system from Alienware's parent company and lets just say I'd have probably been better building it myself.
The first system had a damaged fan controller so was overheating, the second two systems were damaged in transit between Ireland and the UK (I lost two days in hol waiting for the couriers who didn't even bother to ring to let me know they weren't going to show up.)

So of course no manufacturer is perfect but I'd say Mesh are better than most.

    Update on my order

Got phone Call last min Friday from Nick, PC is ready to dispatch but "no Monitor in stock"
(bare in min this was orderd on 7th july !!! and I was told several times it was all ready but CPU etc....)
He offered to lend me one, as I was so desperate and waiting so long, so I agreed.

System was ok few minor scratches which I'm not to happy about on a £1800+ system but at least it worked and has been stable so far.

Build quality is good but wirring was a mess, and the big bundle of wires hanging over the CPU is not the best way to wire something. The stock fans are actualy quite quiet . The PC does run hot but I guess with the CPU/dual graphics this is probably to be expected. One point to note is the case side air intake for the CPU does not line up with the CPU so the CPU is not getting fresh ambient air only warm air from inside the case. I think for that reason the CPU could do with a better heatsink arrangement (something like a Zalman). A fan on the lower air duct on the case side would help the GPU's which run very hot.

Just waiting to hear from Nick or somebody to call me about the Monitor.

    Mine arrived today

List of missing accessories can be found over here

Build quality is good, the wiring is a little messy but the PSU cable bulk is dress to the side of the CPS fan/duct. PM me if you want a picture.

I've only powered up to BIOS setting and started a forensic image of the Hard Drives Pre-Boot for recovery purposes. So far the oddities observed are - The two fitted drives have been connected to SATA4 and SATA6 (instead of SATA1 and SATA2) and the LPT/Parallel port is enabled in the BIOS consuming DMA/IRQ but the port is not fitted to the case (not needed either) this should have been disabled in the BIOS as good practice.

Anyone know the manufacturer and/or specs of the memory finally used?

    Danny
