haha cat i will certainly make sure i dont grab a 7900 nvidia chip hehe .
And yeah, its out two months time and the pricing is similar to the current levels and it will be using the new ram which kicks butt .
(im joking, i dont really know... im hoping end of this year but that will most likely be the low end and the high end will be jan-march )
Still making a decision of motherboard myself. Decided to go with the ASUS P8Z68-V Pro, now just debating whether it is worth waiting for the Gen3 version. Should only be a week or so. So I think on balance it is worth waiting as it is unlikely I'll make wholesale upgrades anytime soon and having that extra (more than likely unneccessary) upgradability just eases my mind slightly.
Consider my last build was 5 years ago, I can just see myself not upgrading for that long again and the Gen3 board would allow me to part upgrade whilst keeping the main parts there. So new GFX and extra RAM would be the first decisions to make when the time comes.
Read good reviews on the non-Gen3 board so it should be perfect for my needs.

Well as no card has yet saturated pci-e 2.0 I'd not be too worried about it personally.
Heck I don't think any single gpu card has actually saturated pci-e 1.0 x16 yet, I think the 6990 is the only card that has saturated it

Yeah sent them another message today about it.
I think the 590 is close to doing it as well but it is otherwise pretty pointless and I know that.
I am only getting the board as it allows me more leeway with upgrades (this year is the first upgrade I've done in 5 years so the idea is to do a partial upgrade in the next 18 months or so before a full upgrade later on). Hopefully it will allow me to keep the board + PSU and then upgrade to Ivybridge and a PCi-E 3.0 card in a few years. It seems like it is going to be similar in price as well so between the 2 I'll go with the one that allows more upgrades hence the Gen3 board.
I forgot about the gtx590.
Yes it probably does as you're basically running two cards in a single slot which means they'd each be running at the equivlent of a pci-e 2.0 x4 (pci-e 1.0 is half the band width of pci-e 2.0)
