Where is my CPU VRM area on my Mobo???

Been looking at my mobo online and according to Gigabyte,

We recommend that you enhance heat dissipation for the CPU VRM area if an AMD Black Edition CPU is installed and the Advanced Clock Calibration is enabled.


Now where in the hell is this on my mobo.



Any help will be mucho appreciated and i will send out virtual High Fives to those who help me.

the line of `chips` above the line of resistors directly above the orange socket will be the vrm`s

The VRM's are those black squares above the black squares (It looks like they say R58?) above the line of round silver things above the heatsink retention bracket.

I had a motherboard that didnt have any cooling on the VRMs so i stuck these on them:

Yep
the small black chips with the missing middle "leg" are the MOFETs they reduce the 12v input from the 4pin psu connector to a lower voltage but higher current, these are the main parts that get the hottest.
The current then goes through the chokes, the square blocks labeled R50, then into the line of capactors, these filter and regulate the current feed to the cpu.
The chokes and capacitors don't need much in the way of cooling but the MOFETs often do.

One thing to remember is that the motherboard it self acts as a heatsink, so any air flow in the rough area can help.

The Zalman heatsinks shouldn't be a problem, they are low profile designed mainly for graphics cards to fit under coolers.
Coolermaster used to make some really god ones for VRM chips, like the zalman ones but black and about 12mm tall, but they were discontinued a few years back now.

The swifttech copper pin heatsinks are probably the best stick on type http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...-pid-3082.html but they are not cheap

also be aware my little ramsink no longer has the adhesive on it as its quite old, so it is just for checking!
