Just finished House. Great enjoyment. Didn't think I could be that interested in a formula show.
Ugh, I'm torn. Otoh I'm a devoted trekkie, particularly devoted to TNG era as that was like the biggest individual show of my tv diet while growing up, otoh, Picard S1 ended so goddamned badly I don't know if I could watch another episode.
I agree, felt the same way but gave it a go. Not such a slow burn as the first season I thought.

Just finished Mayor of Kingstown. Best thing I've watched in a while, and a great set up for another season!
I'll watch Picard, because as above, my Trek was the TNG era, but what they did at the end of S1 really sucked, they should have just let Data and Picard have their moment and then him die, rather than being turned into an android..
Just started watching Halo. Loving it
JABULANI NONKE
Never heard of it, is it based on the game or something completely unrelated?

These days, I don't watch much TV at all. Frankly, I don't really have the interest in trying to follow stuff. One of the things that, for some reason, bugs me more than most is weekly release schedules.
I think it started with 24, and Lost.
I watched s1 of 24 and apart from the comic-book intensity of Bauer, it was okay. But .... I kept losing track. I think it's the same basic issue as why I truly detest adverts in TV programs - they break the flow. So do weekly releases.
I've commented before about having (domestic) hard disk recorders with a built-in editing capability, good enough for pretty much frame-accurate editing .... and deletion. And my prime use for these was deleting adverts. Yeah, it took time. About 5 mins per one-hour progrm slot, but I ended up with a "one hour" that was really (and typically) 38-41 minutes, once I'd dumped the adverts. So, not only was I getting around 15 mins per TV hour of my life back, or an hour per three hours of scheduled programs, but also, I didn't get the 'flow' of the programs ruined by adverts. See, those breaks, even if i muted the sound, just destroyed the .... 'immersability' (if that's a word, and if it wasn't, it is now) of the show. I can't lose myself in the show if I get jolted out of it every 12 minutes, or less.
So by editing, I not only could watch more shows/evening, but enjoyed them much more.
And that worked for me for, oh, 20 years??
Now, of course, the availability of so much on VOD services means I don't need to edit adverts (if I stay off commercial TV channels) out, so I don't really need recorders.
And, given VOD, I just will not put up with waiting a week for the next episode, because it too ruins the 'flow' for me, and have limited tolerance for waiting even for the next season. Which typically means I wait either for a show to finish (I gather Picard is supposed to be 3 seasons) then binge-watch the lot, at my pace.
EXCEPT .... certain VOD services have a habit of just dropping a series, often while I'm mid-season. And that gives me the right hump. I mean, mega-hump.
Therefore, these days, I tend to just make a note of stuff that interests me and as often or not, either just buy the complete box set, or end up simply not bothering at all. Box sets work for me. It means I have the lot here, if/when the urge takes me, and am not subject to a given subscription service carrying it, and not dropping it while I'm part-way though.
And as I'm just as happy going back and re-watching something I know I enjoyed, but haven't watched for a few years, I get even more value from a box-set than a one-off viewing would be. Currently, I'm going through Dexter. Recent candidates have included Babylon 5, Battlestar Galatica, The Wire and The Sopranos.
I do often watch a few episodes of something new, just to gauge whether it's for me or not. There was one series recently (well, last few years) which, IIRC, was Trek-based, but kinda in the future. I can't even remember the name, but I just could not get into that. It struck me as tripe. I lasted about 4 shows before giving up. I'd rather go back and watch some old stuff I know I'll enjoy .... hence, box-sets.
And that's why I don't watch much TV. What I do watch, much of the time, comes off a box-set, but I don't spend a huge number of hours doing it. Maybe it's just that with so many vOD services around, there's so much pressure to produce new content that the garbage-to-great ratio has gone sky high, or maybe I'm at an age where I'm just more selective (or downright fussy) about what I'll spend hours of my life watching.
A lesson learned from PeterB about dignity in adversity, so Peter, In Memorium, "Onwards and Upwards".

Re-watching Person of Interest..
The last kingdom, Season 5.
Big disapointment.
I have read the books, and i've really enjoyed the previous 4 series. But, unlike previous series. They havn't followed the story in the books for season 5, at all. And, it suffers for it.
Is that NowTV by any chance? I hate how they do that. I can't dedicate my life to binge watching, but I find I have say 3 weeks to watch the remaining episodes of some series I've been wanting to watch.
Last time it was a SciFi series (can't remember the name) which wasn't the best quality but I was invested enough having watched the first few seasons that I wanted to see how it ended (and the lead actress is fairly hot which helps )
But I wasn't watching them fast enough, and it seemed I had a couple of weeks to watch one and a half seasons. In the end I didn't manage the last episode of the season I was watching and that expired, but the last season was still available to view. It was like they were sticking fingers up at me for having a life and not viewing to their schedule. So that was the last straw, I rage quit NowTV and I haven't had any subscription with them since.
Back on topic: Have finally watched season 1 of Picard. Was never that into TNG back in the day, but found Picard an easy watch even if I agree the ending was a bit iffy.
Will take a Picard break and watch Bridgerton season 2 next.
I randomly got into Animal Kingdom on Prime recently and quite enjoying it, it's loosely based off an Australian film by the same name.
However, I recently learned that there's 6 seasons but Amazon has only got 3 and they're taking it off Prime soon.
Does anyone know if it's on other streaming sites? Can't see it on Netflix
This happened for Mad Men as well, as I got into it Prime got rid of it, at least with that I could buy the box set.
Started watching Travellers recently, thats not bad, passes the time and its nice to see the odd Stargate face pop up..
