No BT Master Socket with Engineer test thingy

OK So here is the thing, in my new house we dont have a "bt master socket" which has the removable faceplate and a test socket behind it.

The socket i think should be the master (ie the first one in the house from the sbox outside) is just an old style standard socket. Can i change to a BT master socket with the engineer thing relatively easy?

I understand it may break Ts&Cs of BT but that aside, is it doable (hypertheticaly if you wish) and how simple is it?

This is all part of "maxing" my adsl speed which is having a few issues at the moment. After i put the master socket in place i would then look at getting a

have a look here http://www.readman.dsl.pipex.com/oth...ecatwiring.htm on how to add a NTE5 socket to a non NTE5 main box.

As this article says, DO NOT interfere with the master socket, it's illegal to do so and may result in a fine.
