    Re: Help with DNS

Most companies will use more than one RBL source at once, "spamahause Zen" list (all of the 3 you listed combined) is but one, there are plenty of others that will be used in line with zen. Zen will be a very small percentage of the RBL list used.

You'll find most companies use 3, or 4 list providers and sometimes their own internal list too.
    It is Inevitable.....

You're probably aware of it already, but I found a great resource for searching multiple RBL's (49 in total!) in one go:

    Code:
    http://www.dnsbl.com/
Far quicker than querying individual RBLs

BTW - I'm clean on them all

    Re: Help with DNS

I have to ask, what is an RBL?

BL I'm assuming is BlackList, but what does the R stand for - relay/something else?

    Real-time Black List

DNSBL - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Essentially it's almost a generic term now for a blacklist that's updated and searchable in real time.

You can get black lists of open relays, known spammers, IPs hosting exploits, ISP end-user addresses that shouldn't be sending mail. Basically pretty much anything. Some a very effective and others are pretty much a waste of time.

    Re: Help with DNS

I ran a couple of my Ip addresses against the RBL list you mentioned. One has never been used by me, but was on the same three as one that is in use - I guess because it is 88.xxx.yyy.zzz and that is in a range that was used by cable and the black lists have never been updated. (I used to have occasional problems accessing websites from that block, although that hasn't been a problem for a while)
