    2mb broadband

hi im at uni in halls at the moment but next year i will be moving into a house with 4 other people. were looking at getting 2meg bb as we all use the internet heavily for all things from browsing to games. just wondering if anyone can recommend a 2mb service from any1.

price is not hugely important as it will be shared between 5 so we can all afford 10-15 a month if nessecary.

You first need to make sure the line at the house can take 2 meg - You need to be fairly close to the exchange IIRC.

yup you do, also before buying you might be able to get a connection to the uni pipe?

i know people who have a pipe connected directly to their room in the halls for little or nothing, as its the uni bandwidth, and at about 3am in the mornin no ones on so they get a good 30-40mbps downstream

What about Telewest? Is the house connected to the Telewest fibre network? They do 2MB IIRC...

we got a uni connection in halls at the moment but once we go into private housing they wont provide it. we should be on the derby exchange within 2-3miles.

I'm on Blue Yonder 2mb cable. £55 a month, or £50 a month if you have another service (Phone, TV, etc).

I got it installed for a tenner, blindingly fast. Nice.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, if you can get it.

Nildram (same people who host Jolt) do 2Mbps, for 2Mbps DSL I think you have to be within 1Km to the exchange AFAIK!

Think BT quote 3.5km, but it really means under 41dB line noise

yeah, it's about 2-4 miles depending on your area I think, I know that I am about 4 miles from my nearest exchange and JUST can't get a 2mb line. Which is annoying, oh so annoying.
