Use modem once a month to keep BT Mail dialup account alive.
My office still has 3*56K dedicated lines, one as backup for the SDSL and ADSL, one for a legacy banking system and one for the fax (technically 33.6 but data all the same).
The backup line is due to be phased out when we find a decent solution, the banking system goes next April and the fax will remain forever I imagine.
I use broadband now but i still have my 56K modem in my pc - i sometimes use the "call control" utilty to dial phone numbers for me from my phonebook when im feeling lazy (my phone is mounted sideways on the end of my bookshelf and it can be a bit awkward to dial)
My gran still uses it due to no broadband conectivity. And a friend of mine does as his houses wireing is bad, and when his broadband goes down, its the only way for him to get online
