I've just added homeplug to my home.

nas drive is something I will look into. File sharing hasn't always worked for me.

I should have some images up tomorrow. No patch pannel or rack mount switch yet though.

Re: Does anyone have any home network projects for this year?

There is still quite a bit to do (Patch pannel, cable tidy, new rackmount gbit switch, Cisco IP Phones, PfSense router and VMWare server) but the FreeNas is in, with the rackmount KVM, both internet connections have been moved and rewired, UPS installed and i am using my 5 port desktop gigabit switch

    12U Cabinet

    Bit and bobs

    Girlfriends PC

Mission Control (thats my my mates call it anyway)

Once its finished i'll get some proper shots with a decent camera.

I just use IPCams with builtin webservers, then use the built in software to record each stream to a network store. It will also email any motion detection pictures to me.

Damn, I had a double-take. Same desk (from Staples) and identical monitors

What sort of price are those rack mount enclosures?
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

So you go wildly OTT for a home network setup and then when I want to do something wildly OTT for mine, you suggest two cameras ...... and that's it!!!!

I wanted to geek, you killed it

Re: Does anyone have any home network projects for this year?

where did I suggest 2 cameras?

I am no CCTV expert hence why I said I just use IPCams.

If I was going to go for a full CCTV system I would simply buy a propper 16 port DVR and domes and be done with it.

Re: Does anyone have any home network projects for this year?

Er, I was kidding, hence the emoticon - I wanted two cameras in my post, so if I went your route, I'd just buy 2 IPCams.

Re: Does anyone have any home network projects for this year?

I just got myself a Dell PowerConnect 5224 24 port gigabit switch and a new 24 port patch panel.

    I also got 250m of Belkin CAT5 for £34
