    Exchange account ftw!

    I moved my email over to a hostage exchange account a couple of months ago. And it's bloomin fantastic!!

    All my email available on my desktop and laptop though Outlook or anywhere else through webmail. Also got my Windows Mobile synced to it, so changes in my address book and calendar automatically appear on that.

    It's brilliant!!

    Got it through Simply Mail Solutions. They are supposed to be moving to Exchange 2007 soon, which will vastly improve OWA.

    The only downside is having Microsoft Direct Push turned on kills my phone battery if I don't look after it. Small price to pay though, especially now I'm used to having to charge my phone at night.

    Glad you're happy

    Alternatives - MobileMe works just perfectly (after months of struggle )

    Exchange + BES works good as well.

    Bes is the spawn of satan. When exchange does it all out of the box, why bother adding a 3rd party app?

    Simplyms eh? Know them very well

    I rolled out an exchange 2007 setup not long back and also use the 120 days trail at home in a VM and its one of Microsofts best products (along with 2003 server)

    BES, on the other hand, is pap.

    Most things I like about Exchange 2007 - there are some which are very very very stupid , but a large percentage of people are unlikely to come across them.

    cant fault OWA or Activesync though .

    Re: Exchange account ftw!

    I was thinking of rolling my own Exchange box as I have all the software through the Action Pack subscription. But I imagine it would be far more work than I'd be willing to put in just for my own use. Also I believe I would need something like Postini to relay my email through, so I would still have rental costs.

    Generally easier just to outsource it; Postini isn't a mail relay but the best anti-spam/antiviral solution for mail on the market. That's also how I know Simply.

    Unless of course, your client who had it on 2k3 now wants it on 2k7.

    E2k3 = 5 mins config
    E2k7 = Implement ISA2k6
