    New ISP?

    Hi everyone.

Been with Plus.net for a few years now.. bit fed up of getting my speed limited between 4-12pm due to downloading too much (when I signed up it was supposed to be unlimited! and was.. until they changed)... ANYWAY. I'm paying £22 a month which seems a bit overpriced compared to some services, so what is everyone else using? What would you recommend?

I'm not in an area where I can get cable.. I believe the best I can get in this area is upto 8mb.

    Cheers!

    Re: New ISP?

I'm with Be*. Pay £21.50 per month and I get 1500kb/s down and 150-170kb/s up.

    Never throttled. No traffic shaping.

Use something like SamKnows to get the distance from exchange and then you can properly estimate your max download speed. If you are only likely to get 8mbps down then theres no point going for the £21.50 package, when you can get the £13.50 deal.

Also Be* use the same network as O2. So if you have an O2 mobile go for O2 Broadband and the package and you'll get a £5 discount because you have an O2 mobile.

    Hope that helps!

    Re: New ISP?

O2 uses the Be infrastructure - so you won't get it unfortunately

I'd say stick with what you got, the others I wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

Ah blimey mate. Thats a rough deal. I'd go with BT to be honest. I was with them before I switched over to Be*. And their service was rock solid. They do implement traffic management, so be warned.

Hmm, BT are a bit expensive though.. and the traffic management is what I want to avoid!
Looks like they do a £25 a month version, 12 month contract.. unlimited.. Not looked to see if thats subject to a fair usage policy though. Looks like I'll be sticking to plusnet.

Thanks everyone! - Feel free to post further suggestions though.
