Sometimes it takes time for an ADSL line to adjust so maybe speed will improve over a week or two?

Possibly, but DMT Tool shows the line length at around 5.5 > 6km so I'm not holding out for anything more than ~2Mbps

Not the BT plate, but I bought something I presume is similar from ADSL Nation a year or so back. Seem to remember it bumped my line up from 3 to 4mbits. I thought it was £10 well spent.

It only helps if you still have the ring wire connected to the extensions, if you don't, then you'll see no improvement.

Just disconnect the bell wire and save yourself £7.
