    'Unlimited' ADSL with monthly contract?

I'm a University student & with September comes yet another new flat (my 6th address in 3 years...). Most ADSL packages come with a 12 or 18 month contract & if you cancel within that 12 or 18 months they will make you pay all the remaining months even though you're not using them. This wasn't so bad for my last flat, as it was an 11 month lease so we only ended up paying for 1 extra month. However the flat I am about to move into has an 8 month lease & we don't want to be paying for 4 months of unused broadband, so I'm looking for any recommendations for ADSL providers that offer a monthly contract.

I've also noticed that there are a few providers who essentially pay the line-rental for you as well, such as Tiscali, which is another thing we're interested in as we make absolutely no phone calls whatsoever & only have the phone line to get DSL. Of course Tiscali have an 18 month contract so are out-of-the-question.

The area I live in has no fibre, no cable & no LLU. All we can get is regular '8mbit/s' BT IPStream ADSL.

    Any recommendations?

Re: 'Unlimited' ADSL with monthly contract?

Vispa (http://www.vispa.com) offer a monthly contract. The prices are a bit higher than some, but they offer unlimited downloads (no traffic shaping, no limits) overnight and a choice of limits during the day (not shaped, just capped).

I've been with them for 5 years, and they've been great to deal with. I was previously with Tiscali, and although I never had problems with the service, their billing department were useless, and both their customer service and support were rude.

Zen do monthly contracts. Actually I think they are so confident of their services that this is all they offer!

They do, but for the over inflated prices they offer, it would be cheaper to go with a 12 month provider and pay the extra 4 months at the end.

With outstand customer service and reliability, static IP address (8 if you want them) However if you are only after a temporary connection, maybe not for you.

ADSL24 also do monthly contracts, but they're not unlimited.

Re: 'Unlimited' ADSL with monthly contract?

I was on ADSL24 when they first came out but like MOST ISP's as business gets better they get greedier and things go downhill.

I left, and am with the best ISP I have ever experienced in my LIFE.

(can't say who for fear of the above) LOL but they could nto help you anyway due to 12 month contracts.

I was scared to death of the 12 month contract, almost 2 years later and im still in shock, im jst dreading the day it comes to an end, as all good things do.
