Package: BT Infinity Option 2 (truly unlimited)
    Advertise speed: 40 mb/s / 10 mb/s
    Actual speed: 37 mb/s (4.4 MB/s) / 8 mb/s
Torrent speed: 3.7 MB/s (it will go higher, but it download to quick before it reached max speed...)

    Results of our experiment :

    Code:
O2 old	BE avg	VM	VM AVG	BT I
    20	24	19	50	40
    1.7	1.8	1.5	3	3.7
I havew decided to go with SKY as according to their forums and speeds reported, they dont throttle torrent speeds for BB unlimited.

Re: Comparing ISP Torrent speed throttling

I'm on Sky and I see no throttling ever. Note that's the unbundled service.

To be honest I would have recommended either Sky or BeThere.

The experiment is fundamentally flawed in that everyone lives in different areas...
It doesn't matter if you're on a upto 56 million Mb connection if you live in the middle of nowhere with a massive line...

The only way you can perform the experiment is by using the exact same line so that all variables are kept constant. Otherwise you're changing 5 or 6 variables per test and attributing the speed reduction/elevation to the ISP.

    Therefore making the values misleading...

For example, i'm paying for an upto20Mb connection, yet the router is sycn'd with the exchange at just over 10Mb currently in a city centre postcode (CV1).
Giving me a nice download speed that we've managed to pull of 1.2MB
Which is smack on what the line is capable of minus the overheads. (With Sky)

EDIT: I called O2 and wanted my MAC and tried to be as difficult as possible ( Rock mode ) and they agreed to let me have my current Legacy package , evening and weekend calls and line rental for £23. With Sky, I would have paid £22.25. So, I am sticking with O2.

Re: Comparing ISP Torrent speed throttling

This is at my girlfriend's house.

    - CLOCK TIME = 19:51
    - YOUR ISP = Orange
    - YOUR ISP PACKAGE = Unknown
    - YOUR SUBSCRIBED SPEED = Upto 20MB/s
    - YOUR TORRENT DOWNLOAD SPEED = 40.5 kB/s

I'm getting throttled to buggery & we'll be changing provider as soon as I move in. Told her it's one of the conditions of me moving.
