Before we go any further - I must apologise for spelling "Broken" wrong in the title
Yesterday, our intel 3240 DSL modem stopped working right after my mum finished using it. We have 2 computers right next to each other in out house, so we share the same modem between the two. Right after my mum finished using it, I took out the USB cable and put it in my computer. It wasn't working . It came up with "new hardware detected". I think the modem's broken because of 2 reasons:
* The same thing happened on my parents PC
* There's no light on the modem anymore when the USB cable is in a computer
But I have a question - assuming it's broken, then how come the computers can detect anything at all ? I'd have thought that if you put the usb cable in when it's broken, then nothing would happen.
What do you think? I'm saying it's broken, but is there anything we can do to check (apart from buying a new modem and seeing if that works!)?
Thanks for any responses - I need the broadband back!!!
