    Nildram.

Been with them for nearly 3 years now and had a 2mb line as soon as they got them
Games, downloads, customer service, everything is fantastic. TBH can't fault them at all.
Just read this months newsletter and they're trialing 8mb lines atm

this is the problem with these sort of threads, terrible ISPs are often only realised as such once someone has left there care.

Wedge22 (just in case u hadn't thought of doing this neway) i'd only regard the ones who have used other ISPs, or setup, configured, supported people on other ISPs.

If all you know is ISA, how will you ever know that there is PCI?

Would suggest Zen. Not the cheapest but great service, unlimited download and 8 fixed IPs at no charge. £25 for 512k service per month. £35 for 2M. Also its a monthly contract so you can change should you want. (But there is a £50 connection fee).

Zen were top-notch. I only moved to PlusNet to save a few quid. So far they're flawless, too. I don't use P2P so PN's traffic shaping doesn't matter to me, personally. It's worth noting that they apply shaping to both 'Plus' and 'Premier' services, not just the cheaper 'Plus'.

I'm really gunna throw a spanner in the works here... I use bulldog and for ther 2meg its 1 quid to connect and 19.50 for six months rising to 24.99 a month uncapped, I have been with them for a year and a half no downtime and no probs whatso ever the only major problem is that their customer services is absolutely pants with a capital P but I've only had to use them a few times...
but I'm sure there are people that will have had major probs with them

I've been with Pipex since I've had a broadband connection. They're fantastic, had them for 512kbit to begin with and then upgraded to 1Mbit, then 2Mbit which I've had for nearly a year now. Recently decided to switch from BT as my phoneline provider and the new provider (Bulldog) only provision their own broadband on the line, so I can't take Pipex with me as much as I'd like to.

Customer service is prompt and helpful on the phone and over email, IMAP mailboxes just plain rocks and the service never goes down and I can always get full speed. They don't cap the Solo 2000 service in any way and you can pretty much do what you want with it. Highly recommended.

The only downside is the £33.99 a month price for their uncapped 2Mbit service. Quite high these days, £29.99 would be more like it.

    Tesco or Virgin, no, no

Plusnet Broadband Plus would be ideal if all they are interested in is websurfing.
