er, if your northbridge fan is humming loudly, disconnect it. _dont_ kick the side of the case, it _will_ break it.

    ports?

if they might have 8/24mbit, think f2s.

if you like usenet binaries, and are cheap, think plus

if you want expensive, think zen, i've had issues with zen, but that was 4 years ago.

if bt ever become good, reality will probabally rend itself apart....

i am actually looking for the same sorta thing myself, but im trying to find one that doesnt throw all its highest users onto a single line to screw things up... like mine recently started to do (tiscali)

tiscali are good as long as you dont want any technical support what so ever, i hardly get any problems with them though anyhow

Just been browsing Plus.nets site, there must be a catch???
    21.99 a month for a 2meg broadband?
It does not reveal their download speed, from what i can gather, and in a previous post i saw something along the lines of <100Gb, could someone give me a figure for their download limit, since this is a bargin.

    Thanks

Think if you go over their "imaginary cap", your speed will be capped (to like 64kbps?) then when they think you cooled down, they let you back to normal speed.

I remember plusnet advertising as 33:1 contention? It looks low but no ISP run close to 50:1 for the product .

If you want to play safe with plusnet, don't go over 90GB per month. Anyone with <90GB usage will be fine with plusnet. Plusnet is very good with light-medium users. But if you are anywhere near mid-heavy they'll happily give you your MAC code and kick you elsewhere.

Say unlimited? Yea, you get unlimited @ capped speed.

    My 2p

    Demon Internet - 2Mb - £19.99 unlimited

If you want an uber ISP its got to be Zen but you pay for the priviledge at £34.99 per month for a 2Mb.

Plusnet is great at £14.99 for a 2Mb but no P2P on this package (ok not quite NO P2P, but so limited they may as well not bother - hence the pricepoint).

F2S have 'grey areas' in the T&C as does Eclipse/Nildram etc

Im on PN btw so no I'm not a fanboi - just an advocate of good value

plus.net are 30:1 contention on their Premier accounts and some other types also.

As for demon, I used them on dialup ages ago and found them to be great. I went with plusnet when I switched away from Bulldog last Christmas because they were cheaper than demon altho my brother uses demon ADSL now and is very happy with them. May be worth checking out as well.
