Right i've got the BT engineer coming out very shortly to connect everything up, just need an ISP now.
The most suitable package i've seen is with eclipse, 24.99 a month - 40Gb on peak, unlimited off peak (peak is 6pm -12pm) and up to 8 Mb/s. That sounds pretty good to me, any one have any other ideas??
Cheers
Ive heard of Ace Internet. It seems to be very good with no caps for just over £40 a month?

I am a zen customer, and rather pissed at them at the moment.
Yesterday afternoon, I found that most internet access had stopped working, the only sites I could get to where their home pages. Nothing else, even google would work. I assumed that they had some how lost their link to the outside world and waited for them to fix it.
This morning, when it still was not fixed, I decided to phone the tech support line, to see if there was a recorded message to say what was wrong. Instead the message was that they had turned off their DNS servers, and that I would need to reconfigure my network settings.
The exact settings where not on the voice message, instead they where buried quite deep in their tech support website.
I am surprised that they felt the need to replace their DNS servers, seeing as the hardware requirements for one are very light, and any old 486 or the like would be sufficient. Also though they notified me, it was buried in their monthly newsletter that I never read because it is mostly advertising.
The net result is that I have spent all morning trying to get internet access working again, all because Zen could not be bothered to send out proper notification.
I havent had any prob with them today.. or at all tbh

It would depend on your setup as to whether it would affect you or not. If your router is set to automatically pick up DNS servers then you would probably not have noticed the change. If on the other hand you input them manually then you would have to manually change them.
Ok i have migrated from Zen to Ace internet today.
http://www.ace-internet.co.uk/adsl/services.html
I had no problems at all with Zen tbh. I jsut wanted an unlimited ADSL Max connection and Ace came up with the goods where Zen did not.
I signed up for the ADSLMAX 8000 Biz
Download speed Up to 8192kbps
Upload speed Up to 832kbps
IP address Fixed or Dynamic
Monthly cost £39.95+vat
It is quite expensive but for what im looking you have to pay that bit more. Ive heard nothin but good things about these guys on ADSL guide. Them forums are usually on the ball with ISP's as in whos the best and whos not. Evolution has taken quite a hammering lately.
But for all you guys who need the extra bandwidth with no caps or fair usage policys then Ace is for you. I will keep you guys updated on how this goes.
I have to wait around 5-10 days to migrate i want 8mb now!
Lol

If you're getting a new line installed it may be worth going with bulldog since a new line with them is currently only £1 if you take an anytime (capped) or unlimited broadband package at the same time. I believe BT charge around £100 for a new line.

I have just moved over to talk talk. seems the bet thing about at the min.
Eclipse traffic shape, or reserve the right to (can't remember which). Wouldn't be a good thing if you're a P2P user, though to be fair, more and more companies are implementing traffic shaing these days.Originally Posted by bindo

It was not like that a week ago when I was looking for the information. All I can say is that zen must have changed it after customer comments.Originally Posted by peterb
What do you all think of TalkTalk, my old man was thinking of moving from Nildram to them because they are cheaper. i have told him to not be so stupid as Nildram are one of the best ISPs there is, and that if needs be i will pay a little more rent to stay with Nildram.
If you move into a newly built house or flat that has never had a phone line before or if you want to add a second line where there was only one before, then BT charge £99 for installation.Originally Posted by neonplanet40
That's on top of your £10 a month line rental. You can split the installation cost over the first year by paying in installments but they charge extra for this (I think it comes to around £120 for installation paying that way). This charge is often a blatant rip-off (e.g in new build flats the phone cable to your unit is already put there by the builders, all BT do is flick a switch to activate the line).
Some other phone service providers such as NTL or Bulldog charge much less for a line installation.
