Draytek 2800G Dropping Connection

Anyone here had problems with a Draytek 2800G dropping internet connection?. Bought this to replace my Belkin router, thinking being Draytek it would be faultless...but no.


It craps out on the 'net connection, the wireless side sometimes doesn't appear to reach upstairs (depite the Belkin doing it with excellent signal strength) and its just generally winding me up.

Firmware has been updated to the latest one.

I'll make some suggestions. I have leanred a lot about my Draytek.

Always use Internet Explorer and never Firefox when making changes.

Don't trust the Auto set up, as the ISP doesn't always send the right info for the router. ie PPPoA should be used not PPPoE, which will still connect but not be right.

Authentication on mine defaulted to PAP only when it should have been PAP or CHAP.

Modulation should be GDMT not multi mode.

Can you take screen shots blokey? Open the routers Internet AccessSetup page and take a screeny.

If we cant get it sorted this weekend, then trust me Drayteks cusotmer support, by email is superb.

I'm hoping (touch wood, grabs head) that its working. I saw somewhere about dodgy firmware updates (even though it had the latest), so i updated it a couple of times in a row with the latest again, with the firmware that overwrites all the current settings instead of saving and restores it to factory fresh.

Input all the ISP details again and so far, so good...even the wireless seems to be working properly, been using IE to do the changes as well. I don't know what it is but my old Belkin wouldn't work properly under Firefox either.

I lost connectivity yesterday for the first ime in 3 weeks, since Zen/BT sorted by Signal to Noise Ratio margin.

It was at the exact same time as the thunder started.

They sometimes change firewall rules etc, in the firmwares, as a result the factory fresh firmware (i think its the .rst extension) should be used.

yes chap....it just ground to a halt and then dropped out.

So was the firmware upgrade the fix as well OR just the BT SNR stuff ?
