Vote for Telewest here, I regularly download large chunks of data and have never been throttled. I think NTL also have the same policy now after merging with Telewest.

IF its available i`d go with cable every time.

All the people I know who have cable get really fast connections and seemingly uncapped

Im on AOL platinum (8mb), but in the evenings i only get 512kbps internet....
    anyone got any ideas why?
i get 8mb the rest of the time just from around like 1700-2300 every weekday...
i know this because i only get like 60-65 kb/s max on downloads during this time!
750kb/s all of the rest of the time!!!

The most likely reason for that is contention. Even though Bt say there is no contention any more.

Basically its because in the evenings there are more people using the internet on your exchange and there is only a certain amound of bandwidth to go around.

For a 2-8 meg service as long as the download is above 400kbps then you are well within bts performane thresholds for dsl

I was round my mates the other day and I could download faster on my 3G laptop card than on his 2MB ADSL

Ring AOL tech and kick off on em. They might be able to help.

I'm on NTL's 2Mbit package. It has no download limit, and I'm certain of that otherwise they'd have been on me like a hawk already. I get more than maximum download speeds as well.
