my network is tiny
16mb sky router with main pc, xbox 360 and the missus PDA runnign off it and occasionally mates laptops when they bring them round.
used to have a leptop of our own but never got used so gave away to a special kid.
I thout I would post up a small area of my network. We had one room to put this in, its a middle flaw, no possibility to have raised floors
I thought I would re-post this here with new pics

Network pr0n, /me likes!

Draytek 2820n, wifi enabled
Dell Powerconnect 2716 switch, seperate subnet, not physically connected to the draytek
Server: P5w64 WS Pro, E6600, 2gb ram, 74GB raptor for OS, 3x 1TB raid 5 array on Areca 1210, dual gigabyte nics, pci based one connected to Draytek, pcie to the 2716.
Main PC -> P5w64, Q6600, 4gb ram, 4870x2, twin raptor 150gb using onboard matrix raid. auzentech prelude, and killernic connected to draytek, pcie gigabit nic to the 2716
Laptop 1 -> Novatech x80r (Clevor M570ru), wifi connected to draytek, & hardwired to the 2716 from most rooms.
Laptop 2 & 3 -> both old, same network setup as above.
Laptop 4 -> Wifes Macbook, same network setup.
Mac Mini -> connected to 2716, looking to shove airport in there. use powerline adaptors to connect to internet when (rarely) required.
2x IPhones, connected to drayek
Used to have everything on one subnet, not entirely sure why i split them now i've done it, but I can control everything that tries to access the internet from my main pc with the hardware firewall on the nic. And it's pretty much every app these days... Also building a 'media PC' to go in the front room.
As we have recently added some fiber to the network I can now use this sign... yey!

Both nas, switch, router, voip phone, ip cams are connected to ups.
When I have time I'll lay some cat 5 for the other ipcam and media player
nice.. personally though, i think you'd get better performance out of the network if you set the switched the VOIP phones and the IP cameras to a different VLAN, possibly do the same with the NAS drives too (don't know what switch you have though) & use the router to route the packets between each VLAN. it'll reduce the broadcasts on your main PC network, whilst still allowing each to see all. far better than changing subnets.
I'll post when I upgrade my PC, going to set up a nice server with this machine (3200+).
Does anyone know of a free online network diagram tool?
A few questions for Jay:
Is the box with the two fibre cables an Ethernet-Fibre bridge? http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/3201/dscf3724od3.jpg
And, what type of connector is this: http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/7523/adslfi4.jpg Infiniband or the other side of a net module?

^ Also, can anyone recommend where to buy networking gear from?
Thanks
the first is a media converter taking both strands of fiber to RJ45 the second is a Cisco gbic module from the reverse angle, the other side has RJ45

Thanks. I'd like to experiment with fibre myself but I'll have to find a use first
And thanks for the gear recommendations
Where is good for fibre?
