In the drawer are syringes numbering about 50% of our total Calpol purchase count. The other half ended up duff, breaking or just wearing out.
They usually last us 2-3 bottles, I'd estimate.

I'd also factor in a percentage for human error, which will happen when you're trying to acurately draw 2.5ml of sticky fluid at 3am with a child SCREAMING their head off!

Odd, I think all of ours are still going strong. You get some that are tighter or looser (which sometimes get some bubbles in) but don't think we've ever put one out due to failure. All been through the washing up bowl more than once and do get taken apart in the process as well as the in and out. The ibuprofen and paracetamol syringes seem slightly difference to we make sure the same ones go back together.

Those all have nozzles. Calpol ones are flat-nosed and sized to specifically fit their bottles. Without them, it becomes an awful, very sticky mess...

These are probably the better option: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183905181407
But it does require you to pry the Calpol neck filler out with something fairly sharp...

Exactly. It's the very problem we're having with his antibiotics.

So with the calpol syringe I've found a workaround: start with the thing pulled out and blow air into the bottle before tipping it over and sucking the fluid into the syringe. This prevents the air-lock which otherwise draws the bubbles up the shaft of the syringe after the 3ml mark. Working fine now. The seal is just good enough provided you're not trying to maintain a vacuum. The syringe comes off the bottle much easier too. Be nice if they'd just tell you this in the instructions or FAQ mind but hey ho.
