    Question

Well I finally made some orders. My fan is here already. I just went with the lower speed Yate Loon fan. (got it from ChilledPC and it came the next day). Its 1350RPM which my current heatsink fan runs at most of the time. I'm hoping that if the heatsink is as good as I've read, then hopefully this low speed fan will be good enough to keep the CPU cool. If not, I'll have to buy a faster one from somewhere.

I also ordered the Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 today too. Been waiting for kustompcs to get it for over a week, so I finally ordered it from this place:
http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/home (55 quid total - ouch ) They had 4 in stock and after I ordered mine, its gone down to 2 Looks like I got it just in time.

Anyway, I wanted to ask, does anyone know how fans attach to this heatsink? My AC7Pro has a little clip on the fan which lets it attach. But this Yate Loon is just a case fan, so has nothing but the 4 holes in each corner. Anyone know if I will be able to fit it to the Thermalright ok? I searched the net, and someone said the Thermalright has some kind of attachment for the fans. But I'm not so sure, and I can't see it in pictures of it either.

Anyway, it should arrive early next week, so I'll post my temps once I've got it fitted.

little clips that hook tightly around the fan. im still reading the manual
quite complicated. Ultra 120 + Coollaboratory Liquid Pro + Antec 900 = Some seriously good temps, I hope

you may have to remove the closed corners from the fans. Its easy enough to do.

If you have a dremel, use a cutting disc as close to the screw holes as possible, and cut a slot, then do the same on the other side of the same corner, then once you have 2 slots, get a pair of pliers and just snap off the bit of plastic in between the slots..dead easy.

You can do it with a hacksaw instead of a dremel as well.

The rest of it is aluminium, and if your case is, be careful of those fingerprints

Awesome thank you I actually just saw yet another pic of the cooler fitted, and I saw some metal strap type clip things, so I was hoping thats what it was

Have you just bought one by the way? If so, I'd love to hear how you get on with it. My temps are terrible, so I'm hoping its going to give me a big turn around. It better... I really coulda done without spending this 60 odd quid

This fan seems to have open corners One bit of good news atleast. My only real concern about the fan is that it will be fast enough and yet as quiet as my AC7 Pro's fan. I'll find out soon enough anyway

Once the CPU is sorted, I should be nice and cool Only other concern is my Northbridge, but I'm hoping that will work itself out.

yep, it came yesterday but my current crappy case couldnt get it inside. now i got the new one ill get fitting
you coulda got the normal one, the extreme lowers the temps by 3C or something. althought u can clip 2 fans on either side, from other double sided fan reviews i seen they dont really improve that much.

Yeah I maybe should have got the other one, but I am just so desperate to solve my temperature problems once and for all. And its only several quid difference. Whether its 40 quid of 50 quid doesn't really bother me, its just the fact that I have to spend a chunk of cash on my PC - which I've already spent so much on

But yeah, that few extra degrees may pay off anyway. We'll see
