Difference between CPU and core Temp

Well, put my system (E4300, P5B-E Plus, 2Gb ddr2 6400) together and everything is fine, got decent overclock etc.

At first temps were ok (CPu is 30's) then today, I got this

It seems odd the CPU temp is so much different to the Core's.

Am i missing something here?

HSF and AS5 correctly installed I think.

It'll be best to check the values in the BIOS. They're the most accurate you'll get (unless you have a heat-o-meter thingy you can probe the CPU with)

Also, give Everest Home a try... sometimes SpeedFan is a bit unreliable (I've seen it report +100oC and more and -100oC and less before!).

Ignore it, speedfan is usually about 15c out on the cores as well.

Speedfan is unreliable with 4300's. Try everest or coretemp. You'll get a better reading.

If it's stable don't worry too much.

Rebooted and it seems fine now. BTW running the E4300 at 340 FSB. Is that good on a Zalman 7500 ? Could prob go higher but running Orthos now to make sure it is stable

can definately beat that fsb with an E4300 and that cooler. get some decent ddr2-800 and crank it up to around 400. Shouldn't have too much of a problem. speedfan seems to have an issue reporting c2d temps all round imo. its usually 15-20 degrees out of the uGuru rating on my AB9 pro...
