Reading around I have never seen the 640Mb card out do the 320Mb one at 'normal' resolutions

If you want 1920x1200 and 4xAA then you must be loaded and should be getting a 8800GTX anyway...

for those of us more concerned about counting the pennies and gaming on more mainstream monitors (I would suggest 1280x1024 through 1680x1050 is mainstream) then the 320Mb card is ideal, and more is wasted money

Sure, next year will see games that can utilise more. Big deal. Using todays res of textures instead of OMGWTFXXX textures will keep you happy I'm sure

Not if, for instance, you want to use your PC with a 1920x1080 LCD TV.

Which would probably cost more than a 24" widescreen monitor, hence the above comment still stands.

You do realise that if you had only gone for 2 weeks, you could have still come back with Chlamydia, and made the deadline for the stepup program?

    No priorities some people.

I think GRAW2 needs 512mb for high res textures.

Nope GRAW2 needs Aegia for High Textures (my friend with a GTX cannot enable them - you need the PhysX card)

You can edit a file to force them anyway.

Aegia is physics, not textures/shading, that's what the GPU does.

I am aware of that... but if you want high textures... it's the only way... clever marketing

If you mean you need a Physx card to enable high res textures, you're wrong because I don't have one and can enable them fine (with 512mb X1900XT). You do however need a Physx card to enable complex physics.

AH, that's too bad! I feel for you. Sorry to have brought you back a bad memory

Talking about Physics card, does it make big difference? I like GRAW so if it's any good then I might get one for myeself you know. Or is it just a waste of money?

I think it falls into the "Waste of money" category.

And less not forget the Havok physics API is well on it's way to pushing physics instructions onto GPUs, which is a much better solution IMHO. That's not to say PhysX is useless, it's just not supported enough to warrant parting with 90 quid or so to buy one and only being able to use it on a tiny portion of games.
