Final temp Check before Starting OC

Hi,

Here is a screenshot of my system whilst running Orthos and monitoring temps with Everest, TAT and speedfan (core temp always crashs after a minute or two on my system):



Any comments? Do the readings seem ok? Orthos was running for just over an hour.

My core system consists of:

ASUS P5K Deluxe wifi AP
Intel Q6600 - cooled with Gigabyte 3D Rocket Pro
2GB (2 x 1GB) SMX2 Corsair - cooled by OCZ XTC Active cooler
Antec 500 PSU

If all looks ok (some of the temps seem a bit high to me, but as each program reports them differently its a little hard to tell!) then I'll proceed with Clunks P5K OC guide

I know nobody wants their system to die, but if my machine goes down, the money stops coming in, so I'm a little nervous about OCing. If anything looks like it could do with more cooling based on the above screencap let me know and I'll happily buy more fans

It's a B3, that's with my CPU fan on max as well (about 4300rpm)

My case fans are only about 1200RPM so I might see if I can increase these somehow (case is a termaltake shark) to see if that helps. Might need to invest in some more fans I guess as well, so far these are the fans I have:

CPU fan
2 x 120mm case fans
1 x 80mm fan that I tagged onto the side panel of the case (not sure of rpm)
2 fans on the OCZ ram cooler

I was thinking about getting some coolspot fans too. Any suggestions on getting these temps down a bit?

Looks like the heatsink isnt on properly to me.

The heatsink was a real pain in the ass to get connected securely and the instructions were utter cak, but it is connected very securely and the two side levers seemed to 'snap-in' correctly. The thermal paste I used was generic and very cheap, could this be the problem?

Could be.

It just looks like a big difference between 2 of the cores, and often, its the heatsink or the paste that is at fault.

It can also be a concave IHS/heatsink.

It's worth grabbing a tube of decent thermal goop and redoing it.

Yep, thats fine, as is the MX stuff..theres a few decent ones, all with similar results, but I use arctic silver, mainly through habit
