I like the ASUS boards when they work fine, but if you're left waiting for a BIOS update, its just lucky guesses as to when they actually fix stuff.

Its the superb Abit UK support which swings it for me. A UK phone number, talking to a UK bloke who knows his stuff, with a UK RMA service if needed? Yes please
Oh that and the fact that if you have a BIOS issue, they will try to reproduce it, then talk to Taiwan directly to sort a fix out. Top stuff

I'm partial to the DFI Infinity "Blood iron" P35-T2RL. Have had two running virtually flawlessly for the last several months.

Re: Best S775 mobo sub £100?

Probably not the best - but very good value. P35 board with all solid caps for under £80.

    ASROCK 4CORE1600P35-WIFI+ Intel P35/ ICH9R (775) Motherboard - Aria Technology

Edit: should mention the usual ASROCK additional upgrade path shananegans. It supports both DDR3 and DDR2.

Further edit: I've been put off MSI since my old nForce2 board gradually got more and more unreliable. Probably the old bad caps saga...

Been looking around for a decent budget motherboard myself too recently. Was also looking at the MSI after i found this review of the Neo2 at anandtech. It's a good read and compares the board against boards like the IP-35 pro and P5K deluxe.

If I were going to buy it would be either the Abit IP-35 or the Asus P5K-Deluxe. I'd probably go for the Abit over Asus today but seem to change my mind regularly! Recent builds have been Abit -> DFI -> Asus.

Whichever board you choose I'm sure you will be pleased with it. What other components have you decided upon?

Comeon, you know thats an impossible question As with any manufacturer, its the luck of the draw when it comes to overclocking.

Having said that, it does seem to overclock really well generally. For some FSB figures: ip35 fsb - Google Image Search

Its not uncommon to see over 500mhz on this board

Ok yes, but generally you can find these things out by using a multiplier of 6 and going as high as possible. I want a board that will do 500Mhz FSB as a given and was wondering whether people get this kind of number from the IP-35. Good idea to look at google images btw. Thanks.

Exactly. There is that reassurance rather than speak to the retailer who deals with hundreds of products.

In the past year 7 systems built with the pro version no failures, 5 with the IP 35 -E no failures, 3 Asus systems at the insistance of a customer 1 failed and required RMA, 6 Asrock 3 failed after 9 months.

At home my pc's are Abit based and they are fine.
    Space in my skull
