You should consider a Megaraid 300-8x over a 150-6. Since the 150-6 got a far slower/older processor, your raptors will saturate the 150-6 easily, even only with 4 disks.

Already have the old server which is normally at my brothers home, with a permanent vpn between the 2 router boxes we use.

Is it possible for the back-up to duplicated automatically to the off-site server after the tape run had been done, down the vpn?

P.S As far as the errant JCB, read into that, tractor, as our office is based on a farm and the owner has a very long waiting list of people eager to have a drive!

You could schedule an ftp transfer of sensitive files over the VPN to the old server, if you were using Linux I would have recommended running rsyncd on the new server and a cronjob on the old one..
Although I'm not into Windows networking so maybe there's a better (more efficent) way than ftp

mik - you could always run a robocopy operation after the backup has finished.
