    Re: Nvidia GT200 Pre-Orders!!!

With the ATI 4870 supposedly about $330 and the GTX 280 about $600+ is anyone thinking crossfired 4870's would be a better option for minimal price increase (obviously more PSU power but ignoring tht)

I'm all in favour of a revitalised ATI to help reduce prices for us as nVidia and ATI compete and better R&D as more money goes in but could it be possible with the price that the tables turn and we end up with a dominant ATI and crappy nVidia??? :S

    Re: Nvidia GT200 Pre-Orders!!!

Nope. Nvidia will always provide a solution at almost any price range - they have had the margins over the last couple of years to sell things near a loss to ensure that.

Crossfired 4870s is obviously something ATi want you to think about, more so when they release the X2 and provide capabilty for triple and quad crossfire.

You clearly don't play at resolutions above 1600x1200 with a decent amount of AA . I've been itching for a new GFX card since late last year. My current card is 1.5 years old now (8800GTX) which is the longest I've gone without upgrading the GFX and it's showing. Even WoW is making it chug at 1920x1200 and I'm not even using the highest AA settings (about 2-3 off maximum).

Something doesn't strike me as right about that. Sure you've not got a bottleneck somewhere else?

CPU maybe. For older games the 3.6GHz Q6600 runs a bit slower than the 4GHz E8200 but shouldn't be a major problem. RAM (8Gig - no swap file) is running as expected and even uses faster than standard timings. I have noted in another post that the performance drop moving from 1600x1200 (old 20") to 1920x1200 (new 24") was noticeable for games. I do tend to crank the graphics options in the games right up though. I willing to pay for better performance, just need something decent to buy!

Yeah, it must be the PSU! Actually, I do intend to replace it when I purchase the next GFX upgrade. Although it hasn't given me any problems I prefer to go back to a Tagan, Enermax, or Silverstone as my prefered brands. The Hiper was on sale at the time and seemed decent value.

    Re: Nvidia GT200 Pre-Orders!!!

Im quite tempted but again as previously mentioned the only real reason would be for crysis.... which im not all that bothered about. Maybe if i decide to get a new nice big 24" monitor i might change my mind.

    Re: Nvidia GT200 Pre-Orders!!!

I'll get one (or the ATI card) as i'm due an upgrade anyway and Crysis could do with some more BHP at 1600x1200 in all honesty. Big res gaming = big GPU requirements.

    No problem

Yeah dangel fill in that My System, if you've got many put your best one in there
I like having a peek at them anyway. It helps to look at the components that peeps have to find good parts to buy instead of me having to read about
