onboard sound, feedback issues?

any1 got an idea of how to solve this? iam 99% sure it is feedback as when i launch something say firefox and any other task it will go worse and will start hurting my ears. I have emailed asus a few times and time and time again they jsut say update the drivers(its a p5n-d) and yet it doesnt sort it, i will try without my other sound card but its annoying because i would use my soundcard for my 5.1 set of speakers and the onboard for my headset+mic. When i got my new case(cm690) i pluged in the hd audio for the top panel and it worked well for a day or 2 without the feedback but then it came back, back panel doesnt even work now, so does any1 have an idea on how to reduce feedback? or is it just a fault with the motherboard.
Any advice/suggestions would help, thanks.

PS: please dont say the 750i is a crap chipset etc , i know its not great but it doesnt really bother to mexD.

basicly, i get alot of feedback from my onboard sound(even the front ports of my case, so from the mobo) and asus are still yet to tell me another solution other than upgrade sound drivers, id like some1 to post suggestions/ideas they know that can reduce/stop this feedback or if its certainly a fault.

Feddback from what? What have you got plugged in at the front? For acoustic feedback, you must have a microphone plugged in - can you re-position it?

sorry if it wasnt clear, my headphones it isnt from the mic but i use the onboard for my headset but the feedback is coming from the ports on the back of the mobo and now even the top of the case(worked fine for a few days).

well i have 5.1 surround sound connected to my soundblaster 2 ZS, i have my headset+mic connected to the case sound ports(ontop as its a cm690), dont know anything else you need as my specs are on the side.

Right - so the mobo has onboard sound? (and you have a separate soundcard as well?)

If you disconnect the microphone from the headset, does the feedback stop?

yes the motherboard has its own onboard sound, and i have a seperate card. Just tried disconnecting microphone and no joy .

So it isn't feedback then - either interference (electrical noise being picked up) or more likely a driver conflict.

Has this set up ever worked?

Onboard sound and a soundcard? Sounds (sorry for the pun) like a recipe for disaster. Surely they will be trying to use some of the same resources? And Creative cards are known not to be have very well in those circumstances. Don't you have a headphone socket on your speakers?

no i dont have a socket on my speakers , so would it just be interference? because its fine when its booting up but when windows is loaded its not, will try taking the card out and see if it solves it.

edit: it also does it alot in crysis, like whining from the headset even thought the sound is coming from the speakers so dont know why its affecting that.

How about a headphone socket on the soundcard (if the lead will reach)? Yes I suspect that there is some interference between the two. You may be able to configure the onboard sound to use different addresses but at defaults I reckon both would be trying to use the same address space. You can try checking what's showing in Device Manager under System Properties to see if there are any obvious conflicts.

In audio production systems, its not uncommon to have 3 or 4 soundcards in the same system

Going to start with the two most simplest things:

1)
-Open up sound properties (double click the speaker in system tray)
-Options -> properties
-Recording
-Make sure all are ticked
-Now, make sure that in the main window you choose something 'neutral' like "Wave". This should stop the Microphone and any inputs from the soundcard going directly to your speakers....just for testing.

2)
-Check your grounding on the motherboard.
-You see all those holes that are in the board and are supposed to be screwed to the case stand-offs..? Well, are they screwed in?
-These are also grounding points, which can cause interference if they are not grounded properly.
-This can be an issue as not all grounding points are linked to each other, causing them to be isolated before they are attached to the tray.
-See if your PSU has a separate grounding cable and use it if so. Tagan's have these.

agent thanks for the help, really did sort it . Was following your first set of advice and well i just went to advanced on the headphones options(you know like cd volume etc) and ticked every box to add some random volume controls to the row, turns out its "pc beep" was turned to full automatically, turned it off now and its fine .

cant believe asus couldnt help me.
