Or maybe it should be http://www.ebuyer.com/product/145751 which is a lot cheaper! Am looking at list of features at the moment

    Re: New PC £800 budget

Thats the basic board but if offers the bulk of things you would want

I'd probably split the difference of that board and the more expensive ones as I seem to reemember that basic one missing out a few nice touches like eSATA might be wrong though.

    Re: New PC £800 budget

At the moment I am leaning towards just getting the deluxe for the sake of not worrying my pretty little head about not getting a feature i'd sorely regret.

However I am also torn between waiting for more single platter drives to come in stock (which may also coincide with 4870 release).

Am keeping an eye on ebuyer's stock of 4850s while I wait though.

Thing is the monitor is only 1280*1024 - so everything will have to be played with all the bells and whistles on!

    Re: New PC £800 budget

    I've got:
    Corsair 620 W HX PSU
    4gb Corsair 4-4-4-12
    Q6600
    Scythe Ninja Copper Special Edition
    Asus P5Q Deluxe (p45)
    Windows Vista 64 home premium
    Sony dvd drive.

piled up in the corner waiting for the rest of the bits. That heat sink is not small! I reckon in 5 years time I weigh it in for copper and buy me a new pc from the proceeds. Case is making its way through the alternative universe that is parcelforce. GPU and HDDs on preorder still.

At least when case gets here tomorrow I can stick the pile into it and then turn it on and listen to it beep angrily at the lack of gpu

    Re: New PC £800 budget

That's a very nice PC dude. The ninja is a bit large isn't it All copper one is a nice touch, could probably run it passive in that case but the fan it comes with is so nice it would seem a shame lol

I am gonna clock it a bit, so fan will most likely be required. Might need to buy some more case fans too.

    I've seen a video review of a Q6600 @ 3.4 under a passive copper ninja

I'd work on the bottom to top airflow idea, should work nicely.

    Re: New PC £800 budget

Well, I dug out a spare hdd and borrowed a gpu and built it. Trying to install vista, but hdd not being detected too well. And omg is vista slow to do anything during install. I took hdd out of a bigpockets tv-hdd recorder thingy, wonder if funny formatting should affect it.
