Well it was a sweeping misjudgement on a fairly grand scale (obvious even at the time), so some spammage/well-natured ridicule is only fair come-uppance.

Likewise anyone ending up 'heart-broken' at the lack of any material goods falling into their hands from thin air also deserves some time for self-reflection in their gloom.

I went to get one when it was in stock but by the time i filled the forms out someone else had bought it.

Oh well will just have to wait for more to come into stock.

. Add him to your 'ignore list' as he is nothing but a lonely troll I did and i dont have to read his drivel. The loser even PM's me insults he's that pathetic. (which was taken up with the management here).

    Anyway...back to the point.
    1. The offer, if anyone wants to read my original post, was aimed at Earl Grey as it was his statement that i didnt believe would come to light. Take a look at the post. I was quoting EG.

So.....any little fellas that have mums and dads that wont buy them this card, ask again, as my statement was for Earl Grey. Surely no-one thought you would all get one did they? AT no point did i say everyone would get a card.

    2. Now...to the case in point. I offered to buy Earl Grey this card (no-one wins every bet) if it dropped below £125 within 6 months. Technically it still hasnt.......
The cards have been on pre-order and Scan, at this point has no stock.
So...i have been watching closely, and it will be dealt with when, and more to the point if, they ever arrive.

You're right on that, that's how I read it, you and Earl having a constructive argument/discussion.

My earlier post on this matter was a joke.

There's only one thing I don't get. After you made that post, at no point did I expect you to actually buy him a card should you lose the bet, and more to the point, I doubt EarlGrey ever thought so either. Your wording in the above post is a bit ambiguous and reads to me like you may buy the card if you lose the bet. Is that what you intend to do?

Hi fella. I know your post was in jest

As it reads above, my statement was a sure-fire thing in my mind and if/when, at that price, the card becomes available (which at the moment it isnt) i shall be in contact with Earl Grey.

Part of my original statement was that if these cards are sold at under £125 in the 6 month time frame i would buy him one. Technically hey aent being 'sold' as there is no stock.

Pre-order by no means makes the card available though How many firms state they have stock and it never materialises. Until it does, i havent lost

There is no stock of these cards at Scan at all. Even the more expensive ones are on pre-order and i have my doubts if they will ever come into stock again.

If they do though, Earl Grey will receive a PM.

I think these cards will turn up if the 9800 chips have been shipped to oem they may as well ship the stock out on cards, Nvidia won't want them back.

In fact I bet ... no forget that.

Well despite the quote you (singlular) have already started refering to you plural before the statment

There is no way on this planet that a 9800GTX will be £125 in the foreseeable future (well...for the next 6-12 months anyway).

You simply cannot take a USA price and do the currency conversion and expect the prices to reflect here. We ALWAYS pay more for our hardware and thats never likely to change.

If you find the 9800GTX for £125 or under brand new in the next 6 months in the UK i will buy it for you.
The middle sentance here is clearly a you-plural (aka 'one') - Earl G is an example of a 'you' that cannot take a USA price, but it is by no means exclusive and it seems likely that you (singular) were making the point that no-one can take a USA price and expect prices to reflect it.

Then you (singlular) continue with the 'you' in a sentance which could be read as another you-plural like the one above it, as there is no reference between the you-plural and the you (maybe singular) that would let us know you (singular) are changing focus.

Anyway, I for no moment believed you (singular) would buy a card for everyone, but your (singular)statement is far from clear and instead sounds like the usual sarcastic bravado that one/you-plural sometimes use(s) to emphasis a point in which one/you-plural has/have profound belief.

In short, modern English is crap

PS the intention of my early reply to your (singular) proposition was to enable you (singular) an opportunity to clarify that it was only directed to EG, but you (singular) didn't take it.
