I mean I could get the TRUE I suppose, lots of people do rate it it seems. It sounds like a big fiddle to fit (I have big hands) plus it doesnt seem to come with a fan. Kind of puts me off it that does.
As for there being lots of review sites out there, there are it's true. Alot are crap though and don't test things properly. For example, I bought a Hiper Type R after reading a couple of good reviews online. Turns out they are bad and indeed mine blew up and damaged my motherboard.
It's actually very easy to fit actually, you will find it easier than the mine/ninja/xigmatec as they use the intel push pin system.. which is less than desirable.
I personally don't struggle with it but lots of people moan about it.

Well I figure I might as well fit the best. I do want to overclock, but I also like my PC nice and quiet, so it needs to be good. What fan would you get for it? Peferably one I can buy from the same place as the TRUE or scan or ebuyer.
Scythe S-Flex are good from scan.
If you aren't overclocking though it is a massive overkill lol

It comes with one set of clips. You can attach a fan either side but you wont need to do that so no need for extra clips.
You would do fine with the 800 rpm if you don't want to overclock but you won't hear the 1200 above the case fans anyway
This news about nehalem is making me think harder about either buying nothing now or going for option 1 - the cheapest. True, true. Truth is it's near 2 years after the release of core 2 duo chips that I feel like I need one, so nehalem will likely be a similar story.

I aslo saw a review of this, what must be the new king of air cooling. http://tech-reviews.co.uk/reviews/scythe-orochi/ Although that really is massive and I'm not sure I want that in my case, as it would block access to RAM for a start, let alone that they say they had to remove the rear fan to allow for this humongous heatsink!

I see in your profile you have a X1900, I changed from one of those to a 8800GT and the frame rate basically doubled in most games @ 1680x1050.
Option 4 = get 8800GT for £85 (or similar) and wait until next year for CPU/mobo/DDR3
Edit: I also see you have a 27" LCD, surely you can't be playing at native resolution at the moment?

Not just an x1900, an x1900xtx. Which cost £350 and was the best single graphics card at the time, the same time my CPU was a kickass mofo lol, though I know it's far from kicking ass now. Thanks for the good advice though
Yes I always run at 1920x1200. Even crysis, though I had to turn everything down to medium. Goes to show my ageing prizefigher of a card still has some punch!
Well seeing as Hexus has a story about the Nehalem Lynnfield and Havendale cores which look like they will be much closer to mainstream/mid-range chips won't be released until at least Q3 2009, you shouldn't need a Nehalem until at least mid-late 2010. Don't forget that when the first Bloomfield chips come out the cost of the motherboard and DDR3 memory will still be astronomical. The chip might be $289 (probably be £200 in UK), but the board and memory will be another £350-£400. You will have to wait for budget boards that support the new socket, and DDR3 memory to drop too much closer to current DDR2 prices before Nehalem becomes a must.
