    PSU Cables? (Corsair TX650W)

So I just unpacked the TX650 and have seen that there are a hell of a lot more cables than my old 520W has.

    520W

    650W

I'm not quite sure how to install the PSU as I have never installed one before. Should I just plug it in the same as the 520W was plugged in?

Yeah do it the same was as it worked before. The 520W is modular so the cables you don't require can be removed.

What was wrong with the 520W?

Ok thanks, and I'm going crossfire.

oh and no, one 520W won't do crossfire.

Tell me about it. Spent a good half hour getting all the cables to behave!

By the way, the HX520 does do crossfire!

    Re: PSU Cables? (Corsair TX650W)

The 520W can sli 8800GTS's quite happily, so I would think it would crossfire HD4850's and probably HD4870's.

if its an 8pin that splits into 2x4 pin then that goes into the motherboard (8pin if it will fit)

if its an 8pin that splits into 6+2pin then that is for the PCI-E gfx card.

the TX650 doesn't have any other 8pin connector

As for CF HD4850 and HD4870 on TX650, it should be able to handle both, only problem you only have 2 PCI-E cables and HD4870 needs 2 each.
HX520 is probably only able to CF HD4850s under normal conditions.

Corsair are confident CF HD4870 can be run on the HX620 and although it also only has 2 PCI-E cables, Corsair are issuing special cables with 2x PCI-E connectors on 1 cable for 4 in total. TX650 is non-modular though, so you'd need to use adaptors.

well I just left it unplugged. Comp boots fine but mouse/keyboard/speakers don't work.

The cable I left unplugged has something to do with this?

Shouldn't, either the GPU will wail very loudly, or the CPU will not recieve engouh power.
