I think you made a wise choice there, Se7en. There really was no point spending 3 grand on a computer.
thats a better choise
i still think, that like everyone else, the system from scan, although not as flashy, would have offered better value, but at the end of the day, it is your money...
that system can be upgraded quite comfortably when the time arises that it cannot perform a task you want it to, or you want it to at the speed you want it to
as for a moniter, any of the dell 240x moniters are a good choise
if you need keyboard, check out the saitek eclipse I/II
and for mouse, somthing like a logitech G5, or one of razor's latest offerings..
No it doesnt. (Don't mean to be rude).
If you chose to game at 1920 x 1200, then yes, it'll require more GPU power.
But you can still scale it to 1680 x 1050 or whatever you want...
Buying a 24" monitor therefore gives you choice, rather than limiting you so much.
Plus, with the system we are talking about it'll be fine for loads of games at that resolution.
Plus even more, buying a better GPU in the future will be cheaper than buying a larger monitor.
PS Pob255, as at this time, i have 1 post more than you, therefore my advice rocks!

If you get a 1920*1200 monitor make sure it has 1:1 pixel mapping so that you can play at lower resolutions without having the image messed about with as its stretched to fill the screen better black borders than pixels trying to be 2 colours at once!
I agree - although this thread has proved others don't.
If I had the cash - and I don't atm - I'd like a laptop I could game on. Alienware seem to have some nice options in this category.
I bought an Acer latop for £450 recently - Alienware don't even have a PC at that price, I believe... It's got a nVidia 8600gs - which for a desktop would be rubbish - but I started up Crysis, and it "had a go". Contact (1st level) was about 1fps on Very High - but as long as you didn't do anything - it looked very nice. Alienware had laptops with 9800gt and 8800gtx (mobile) versions, which I'd have preferred. Reviewers have said these cards can get 30fps on Crysis.
Ah well...
If you want good gameplay, build a pc yourself. You save much money over alienware, and get to miss out the stuff you don't need.
For £2000 you can get a core i7 system, GTX295 which will be much faster than that alienware system, with 6Gb DDR3 1600Mhz. Crysis loves quad cores, and there is no better than core i7. No other cpu can touch it in mutli-threaded apps. The GTX295 is also better than the HD4870X2, including in crysis.
