YOu can use 2 very slow speed fans rather than 1 slow speed fan to help reduce noise levels as push pull fan orientations increase the airflow by reducing pressure drop.

So what I mean by that is a fan is rated for 50cfm this is measured in free air, as soon as you put it on a heatsink it is pushing against something this causes the airflow to drop say to 30cfm. Now if you had 2 40cfm fans they may make less noise and still create 30cfm when attached to the heatsink (all numbers completely fictional!).

If you would see benefit from having 2 fans I can not say for sure you also have to consider if you have the space in the case to fit a fan on each side of the cooler.

Well, i'm hoping there would be space (Antec Nine Hundred) as its pretty big.

I'm planning on replacing the front two fans supplied with the Antec Nine Hundred (the fans are tricoool LED Fans - 120mm) and was wondering if I could then use these for the fans on the heatsink as they are spare?

Ah your mistaking total space for space where it matters. The is only so much space between the CPU and the back of the case (assuming you have the cooler in that orientation) and you need to fit a case fan and a CPU fan in that gap and hope its not fouling any motherboard cooling not guarenteed to fit by any stretch of the imaginaion. As to using the tricools yes they should fit on the CPU cooler try them if they are too noisy then you can always replace them later.

Took a look on google, according to this: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...tra-120-a.html

The thermalright ultra 120 would fit into the antec 900, though I wouldnt be able to use a sidepanel fan (which I don't plan to yet anyway).

On the 10th post of that topic it shows photos of it installed with only one fan, though there is clearly room for two. Not sure whether I would benefit from two being in there though, as it'd be:

<- Exaust Fan <- CPU FAN <- CPU Block <- CPU Fan <-

They would all be very close to each other, so not sure whether or not i'd benefit, though I might give it ago anyway, if i purchase one.

Also wondering what the size difference between the Thermalright Ultra 120 and the Thermalright True Black 120 is like, and also which one you believe is better?

Re: Q6600 Overclocking with NorthQ Siberian Tiger Liquid Cooling

They are exactly the same size one is just black nickel coated rather than standard nickel coated. The is no performance benefit from the black edition it just looks cool. If you want better performance then the TRUE Copper could be for you but it costs a small fortune ~£75 so any gains are probably not worth the extra expense.

Back to fitting in the case, I have no doubt hat the TRUE would fit in the 900 but each motherboard is slightly different so just because somebody else could fit duel fans would not guarantee that you would be able to if you are using a different motherboard.

By all means give it a go

Well, i'll be ordering the case, then the motherboard, then the CPU and its cooler together, so i'll do some measuring once the motherboard turns out.

I'm planning on getting the Black Edition just because its seexxxxy and then using the two fans (hopefully they will fit).

    Thanks
