I just want a decent cheap graphics card, the release of the new series will hopefully cause a price drop on the higher 4000 series cards.
The HD4890 being £130 already, it's a steal even before the new cards come out.
The 4890 is more than triple the performance of the 3850 though, and 4 times the memory...
I didn't expect the repsonse to Dx11 to be massively positive, but I think it's a good thing. Okay, it's just a guess and a hope, but the next Xbox is probably only a couple of years away, and that will probably run a version of Dx11. If its games are going to be ported to PC (and I hope they are, since I think they might be the only source of games we're going to get now that native PC titles seem to have dried up), then the sooner Dx11 cards become commonplace within our world, then hopefully, the sooner we get Xbox 3 ports, only with graphics that well surpass those of the original platform's.
and gameplay bugs that way surpass the console versions too...
Can't say I've ever seen anything go massively wrong with anything other than GTA IV, which was a hideous, hideous mess. I sometimes contemplate taking a slash against the Rockstar offices for that since they're based en route between my favourite pub and my house, but I digress. What've you found that's been so bad?
Ooh... September.. just in time for my birthday. Get one for myself maybe.....
Street Fighter 4, GTA4, Rainbow Six Vegas and Splinter Cell games, Dead Space and Saints Row 2 come into mind, but GTA4 and SR2 were definitely the worst. SR2 on the PC obviously isn't very popular, since it's much more demanding than GTA4, but you don't hear many people commenting on performance (GTA4 will run mostly high at 22-25fps, SR2 will only run on low at around 11-14fps)
The only games I am really interested in the next 18 months are Crysis 2,Alan Wake(if it comes to the PC),Max Payne 3,Bioshock 2,Doom 4 and possibly Rage.
Of these only Crysis 2,Max Payne 3 and Bioshock 2 are the only games I would consider getting a new graphics card.
Seeing as the new range of cards is called "Evergreen", I wonder if we are going to see some low power use cards, rather than the current ones that can better be described as planet destroyers, or is it just greenwash.
