HDDs don't have necks do they? Just a thought.

Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Yeah that's exactly like mine, it's normal.
@crazyfool you can upload it as it is VLC can play pretty much anything. Otherwise you could use an online converter like http://media-convert.com/

I have F3 500 GB samsung drives as well (two)
On resume from sleep mode they make a kind of whooshing noise.
No clicks though (I dread hearing clicks from HDDs as it usually means the mangled head is scratching the platters or something similar)
The whooshing sound is normal as bit-tech mention it in their review of the Samsung F3 1TB drives
( see here:http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/sto...3-1tb-review/1)
Here's a recording I made of my HDDs a while ago for comparison: http://f.imagehost.org/download/0142/HDD_Noise the first click-click is the power button BTW.
CAT-THE-FIFTH (19-01-2010)
Yeh mine is very different from that. I'll try and get a recording done where you can actually hear it. I just tried to set the drive to ide mode to disable ncq. My motherboard only has options for sata, achi or raid. No ide mode Right now its set to sata
EDIT: Heres a recording of the sound. About 12 secs in you hear the disk spin up, then the normal click and then you can hear clearly hear the clicking/crunching whatever you want to call it for about 15 secs afterwards. You might need to turn it up a bit though, it is a little quiet.

Hmm no that doesn't sound normal to me. How long does it continue for or doesn't it stop? Oh and BTW on your motherboard SATA is the mode you'd want.
How well was the drive packaged? I've heard ebuyer don't package them very well and they often get damaged in transit. Check the drive's SMART data using something like HD Tune and see if any items under the health tab are highlighted. Also you could try the drive in another computer (would be best if you didn't try to boot from it though if the computer has different hardware) and see if it still happens to eliminate the possibility of something else causing it.
Yeh it happens in my main rig when I had the drive in their to image the htpc back on to it. The packaging was tbh but I just don't wanna go thru the hassle of copying everything back off the drive and sending it for a replacement if it isn't faulty. But if you're saying that noise ain't normal then obviously its faulty. I'll run the hd tool and see what it says, although last time I ran the samsung tool and it came back clean but atfer the rma ebuyer said it was faulty.
No I don't mean the Samsung HD tool I mean the program HD Tune: http://www.hdtune.com/download.html
Maybe you could contact Samsung and see what they think? Mention how well the drive was packaged and that this one is a replacement for one with the same problem.
Have you tried running chkdsk /f on the disk? I don't think it would make any difference but it can't hurt to try.
I have tried samsung for the first drive and they never responded. I just sent an e-note to ebuyer telling them I will rma this drive and I don't want a replacement. If they agreed the old drive was faulty then this will be the same as its the exact same problem. I'll see what they say, a refund would be nice but I doubt it.
Yeah I think I recall emailing Samsung about something and they didn't bother getting back to me now I come to think of it. I could be wrong about the noise not being normal as I've never used an F2 drive, I'm just going on what I know from other Samsung drives. Have you tried Googling to see if others have had the same problem as you? If you get a refund (don't see why they wouldn't give you one if they find it faulty) you could try Scan+free shipping.
