    Re: HDD Crunching?

Well I figure the last drive had the same issue and sound and they deemed it faulty. Therefore they can only declare this as faulty as well. I wasn't sure about the refund as I bought the original drive a few months ago. Although after 2 faulty drives I think they should give me a refund. I should've gone to scan but ebuyer was quite a bit cheaper when I bought it. No more HDD's from ebuyer though. Sending a hdd in its static case inside a paper thin padded envelope and a cardboard box filled with 2 airfilled bags is not good packaging. Anything I buy from scan takes so damn long to open because of all the bubble wrap.

While Ebuyer's packaging is crap, their return policy is much better, not to mention City-Link is such a terrible courier I'd suspect your package will arrive with about the same chance of failure between SCAN and Ebuyer.

EBuyer and SCAN certainly don't do refund. Unless they don't stock the model any more, SCAN will give you a like-to-like product (discretion of the returns department?) while Ebuyer will give you a credit note (of original price!) to spend on another similar drive (with money to spare)

    Re: HDD Crunching?

AFAIK you are entitled to a refund if an item is faulty under law so it's not a retailers choice although that might only apply to items that are D.O.A so I'm not sure. Saracen would be the one to ask there.

    Re: HDD Crunching?

Well ebuyer replied to my message and said I can get a refund as long as I return the replacement within 28 days. Thanks for all the help guys. Don't think I'll be getting hard drives from ebuyer any more. I got £60 of refund to spend now though

    Re: HDD Crunching?

Ok I rang up ebuyer to confirm rma and the guy reckoned you need to have 3 faulty hdds before they would consider a refund. After I told him that ebuyer had already emailed me he decided the best he could do was to give me credit to spend on a similar item. Better then another faulty hdd lol. I'm guessing the similar item part means I have to use it to buy a hdd.

    Re: HDD Crunching?

If goods are defective you are legally entitled to a refund so you don't have to accept a credit note. If its within the first 6 months, you will be in a very strong position.
