Netbook advice

After my long time off bashing netbooks and not seeing the point off them. As i became a student and have to go to lectures i finnaly see the point.

I have no idea what are specked like so im asking for help here.

Just some general, When i go to my lectures i want to be able to take a computer with me to record down the lecture notes and possibly use the internet. I got friends who take laptops with them and i found they are too big and too heavy, so hence me want netbook.

i got a budget off around £150 - £200

i just want two things really

wifi capability, and prefribly win 7 on it.

any help?

theres a £200 one form argos in the bargains section. As stated the battery is not great; it is also semi hackintosh compatable too so Mac OS for about £30 may be a look for a bt of fun!

er yeah, just one more thing NO MACS none off the uni stuff here runs on them. as im doing a computer programing course i need to have windows runnning on them. I got a spare licence to install one if needed

Keyboard is a bit naff on the 10. I suppose it depends how much you type.

i'll have to disagree with you there.. the keyboard on the mini 10 is only second to the NC10.. but the NC10 is way out of the budget.

yeah the reason i want a netbook is to type up my lectures, so i guess alot?

Issues you'll have is that the low cost models generally use 3 or 4 cell batteries to keep the cost down.
So while they are cheap don't expect to get more than 2.5-3 hours out of them.

Also how's your typeing on a small keyboard?

Have you considerer one of these?


Personally, even if netbooks had exesisted when I was at uni, I'd still write by hand then type them up later.
Granted my typeing skills suck and it's faster and simplier for me to write, but the very act of typeing it up later makes you go through it and helps reinforce it in your mind.

how does it compare to the nc20? i think the nc20 looks alot nicer, but how is it in specs compared to your HP?

I have one of these, and really like it. Battery life could be a bit better, however you can buy larger battery packs if need be.

Probably worse battery life but faster and maybe more versatile.
