as far as i know OEM will not effect the windows 7 its the full product but as far as I remember it cant be transferred to another machine its just for that computer and that one only, correct me if im wrong

OEM also means no official support from MS not that I know anyone who looks to MS for support anyway.
If you're a student, teacher or work for a educational establishment and have a valid .sch.uk or .ac.uk email address then you can get Windows 7 Pro for £30 http://www.microsoft.com/uk/education/studentoffer/

Its a shame about the Student £30 7 only being upgrade as it really does make the deal a kick in the balls.
cat, or anybody do you know if it would be worth spending an extra tenner or so and upgrade my processor to this one http://www.ebuyer.com/product/238326
and would everything still be compatible?
and finally does anybody know if i should use an antistatic wrist band while assembling the computer?
thanks
and btw how do you give thanks?
also would i need to upgrade my psu for the processor to work ok?
thanks again

I'm not the expert here, but since nobody has responded yet, I'll offer a quick response that I think people will agree with...
That is a personal choice, to be honest it can never hurt to have a better CPU and that CPU is better obviously. If you want to spend an extra £10 on it, go ahead. Just don't do like I do and allow "an extra £10" to turn into "an extra £1000", because that can happen really fast when you keep climbing the ladder, and it isn't necessary at all because that expensive equipment becomes obsolete and needs to be replaced... it's better to stay at the mid-spectrum and low-price quality-performance part of the ladder, because everything will work perfectly and you won't be spending too much money now nor in the future for upgrades.
That's what I've learned from my mistakes.
So if I were you, I would pay the extra £10, why not? But I would limit myself and make sure I don't pay an extra £20 (for a total of extra £30) in order to upgrade to the next best CPU... because like I said, it will happen so fast you won't even notice

well, an older am2+ cpu of mine with an nvidia chipset gets approximately these numbers, measured at the socket....it has 1 optical drive and 2HDDs...the load was measured under prime95
I dont think that a low end gpu would add too much
btw, these PSU calulators are pretty much useless...

You also have to remember that PC's often spike, which will often not be shown by a wall socket monitor as it's too brief.
Also psu ageing reduces the max output.
Still a good 400w will be able to cope with this setup for a good long time.
Personally I'd not put the extra on the cpu mainly because I'd put it on other things, like a couple of additional fans
Sticking with that list I'd add on one 120mm fan on the rear and one 140mm fan on the top
limiting the sites to ebuyer, novatech or aria (so you can just add it on and still get free shipping)
I'd go with
120mm
Gelid Silent 12
http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=40817
or Yate Loon D12SL-12
http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=41117
140mm
Yate loon D14SL-12
http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...roductId=41118
Personally I'd also add on an after market cpu cooler
Coolermaster hyper 212 plus, very good and quiet for £20

If you get the casecom 6788 then yes the hyper 212 plus will fit (it's what I'm using )
And no you don't need to upgrade the psu because of it, 120mm-140mm fans use around 0.2-0.3 amps 12v each (3-4 watts)
And getting ether a 2nd 120mm or a 140mm fan for the top is a good idea, two of the Gelids
Yate Loon's might look plane, mainly because they are no-frills, mainly OEM fans, however they are good quality esp for the cost.
eg the fans used in the corsair PSU's are made by Yate Loon (although they are the ball baring version)
