On the face of it the new core I3 seems terrible. The old version was a truly exciting CPU the new version seems to have had its balls chopped off. It seems as if the only thing it's got going for it, is the small amount of heat it produces which is good for tiny PCs.
I am very happy for AMD I feel bit of a traitor recently buying Intel, but it's great that AMD are going to rule in the standard desktop market.
I've encountered a problem with my P8P67 Sandy Bridge setup. Despite working correctly when I ran my stress tests - since turning on this morning the memory refuses to run at 1600mhz according to CPU-Z
It was definitely running at 800mhz and the timings I specified when I ran the stresses, and the CPU is still Turboing up to 4.4ghz but the memory has reverted to 667mhz (1333) and the equivalent timings.
Going into the BIOS and the correct RAM speed and timings are still in there, but are not being correctly applied. Did a quick search and it seems that there have been some problems with this, although for most people it never worked wheras for me I'm sure it was working yesterday.
Going to update the BIOS I think but it will have to wait until next weekend as I cant risk the PC not working this week and dont have time to do everything this evening. At least its working fine and the CPU overclock is great. I'm not sure how much effect the memory bandwidth will have on my overall performance but it concerns me that options specified in the BIOS aren't actually being used.
The Asus boards are really quite unstable currently. Just about managed to get mine to boot with one memory stick installed but windows will hang after around 20 minutes or so randomly. Frustrating but early adopters get problems I guess.
I've seen my Supreme Commander 2 benchmark shoot up moving from a Q6600. And also in skirmishes it no longer becomes a crawlfest after a while! Additionally doing a full system backup with Acronis TI took about a quarter of the time on high compression.. Thus far i'm pretty impressed and I haven't got round to overclocking..
Dan. Dial that baby up to 5GHz
You're watercooled right?
Yup - spent ages yesterday reworking the system (added isolation taps and the new cpu waterblock) - used the asus autooverclock on "fast" (next level is "extreme") and it worked perfectly taking it to 4.1/4.2 (I forget). Going to let to let it settle there for a while till I've got assurance of stability and then either try extreme or a manual clock. The auto stuff was impressive though! I like EFI lots too. Overall feels like a really nice board although the SATA connections are somewhat confusing - 2 x SATA 6gbit + 2 x SATA 6gbit + 4 x SATA 3gbit - all different controllers! I'm completely on the 3gbit atm because this boots up with my original (intel) RAID array intact - and W7 managed to install drivers and boot correctly
All good so far for me too with Asus P67 Deluxe, i7 2600K and 8 GB of Corsair Dominator GT (CMT4GX3M2A1866C9).
I've not attempted an overclock yet, waiting for the H70 to bed in and because I'm a lazy git and it's all pootling along nicely atm. Of course, posting this will now jinx everything and it'll all explode!
It looks like not all the current socket 1155 processors support virtualization:

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
