I just wrote to this place to see if they do cases.
finally a pc that has some black and grey contrast and not too much neon .

bit of a crush on the Fractal Design Define - from an external point of view anyway. overall maybe a Corsair 650d?

It would be nice if Shuttle sold the J3 or H7 Pro cases separately:

I can see Im going to have no choice but to buy a crap case now that I will have to MOD..
Japanese / Chinese have no idea how to desing anything that looks remotely interesting or appealing- just look at their cars...
that leaves us with aftermarket cases for darth vader fans
bah
No wonder Apple mac trounces Pcs so bad in cosmetics appeal.
The Japanese cars sold in the European market tend to be very conservative looking. The ones for the home market OTH tend to be more interesting.
I don't agree with you there. The problem is that for a desktop I am not a big fan of silver desktop computers. Great for laptops but a bit meh for desktops.
On top of this companies like Lian Li and Fractal Design make some really nice minimalist cases.
I like minimalist stuff too and agree about the silver but i think you miss my point i.e. why does it only have to be one colour ?
Even Compaq break up the colours a bit on their cases and it just helps give it style , if theres no colour or even edge definition then whats the difference between having pc there and block of metal or wood with neon light thrown in and a fan .
To me that just borderline on parody , its not minimalist or design because it no longer looks like pc case at all , but something else like small fridge or those old projectors fan cases.

I just find as annoying as if i paid **** ton on car with good engine that didnt look like it reflected in the price but something far cheaper or less sphosticated- this is my problem with those cases and ones like the above.
sorry
I think pc cases are already pretty minimal things any way.
One thing they dont use that would help is TEXTURE !
Now check this out my friends

Just adding some strips of that would make massive difference
This is design to me , it pushes boundaries ,challanges ideas .
Do i like it ?
Yes / No

Whats wrong with one colour?? If you want multi-coloured cases then there are dozens of different designs and form factors out there for you to choose.
That case is not one colour though. It is silver and black.
The Mac Pro is a silver block with a silver meshed front.
????
No the Macbook Pro has legs, nice silver mesh to compliment the case , its not square or a box at all, it has curves baby
Any way i like these a lot more.

1 - 3 -6 and 7 .. esp 6 , now thats a nice case.
m
Melon you have to mod your case to make one like those cases, but I think you might like this?

I find the design a tad staid now and I tend not to like fully meshed fascias. Having used the Power Mac G5 and Mac Pros at work before perhaps I have just got bored of them. Maybe if they had a black one it would be nicer:

Personally,I find the Mac G4 Cube one of the nicest Apple designs:
http://www.deskpicture.com/DPs/Techn.../G4Cube_2.html
Of course there is the NeXTcube which was another Steve Jobs project:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NeXTcube
This computer looks like it has been yanked from the 1970s:

Here is the build log for the seventh computer:
http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/case...acs-oldnewby/1
The sixth computer uses the following Lian Li case:
http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/product...38&ss_index=96
How about the new sharkoon T9 cases http://www.sharkoon.com/?q=en/node/1858 http://www.ebuyer.com/search?q=sharkoon+t9&x=0&y=0
or the Rasurbo Xange http://www.rasurbo.com/RASURBO%202011%20eng/xange.html http://www.scan.co.uk/products/rasur...icolor-w-o-psu multiple coloured inserts that you can swap out
Japanese cases are very good, see the windy case I listed, they also do some others is great colour combos
BLACK KNIGHT : Anodized Black exterior / Anodized Red interior
DEEP PURPLE BURN : Anodized Purple exterior lacquered with gloss coating / Anodized Red interior
SPIRIT OF JAPAN : Anodized Black exterior / Anodized Black interior
BLACK DOG : Anodized Black exterior with / Anodized Gold interior
TRAD BRONZE : Anodized Brown exterior / Anodized Gold interior
PROFESSIONAL : Anodized Black exterior lacquered with gloss coating / Anodized Gold interior
FIREBALL : Anodized Red exterior / Anodized Red interior
TSUNAMI : Anodized Blue exterior / Anodized Blue interior
SILVER CAVALIER (previously known as LAGOON) : Anodized Silver exterior / Anodized Blue interior
MEDITERRANEAN : Pearlized White Painted exterior / Anodized Blue interior
CARIBBEAN RED : Anodized Red exterior
EURO BLUE : Anodized Blue exterior
DEEP PURPLE : Anodized Purple exterior
They are not cheap but are probably the some of the highest quality cases out there.
Personally I think apple laptops are great (but so are some of the more expensive normal laptops) the apple desktop/tower/imac's I think are ugly.
Which is one of the big problems with design, what one person like another hates.
Cheap cases tend to be a bit naff, expensive cases tend to look much better.
On a side note I've just got a Jeantech Phantom off fleabay for £30 + £10 p&p http://www.jeantech.com/phantom.htm
So expect to see a new mod project coming soon™
edit: I also agree with CAT on the G4 cube, lovely looking, seem to remember they where supposed to be fanless and rely on convection currents for cooling, but would overheat, which was why apple dropped the design.
EDIT2: painted internals and esp different colour painted internals has all come straight from the modding community, case manufactures do watch modders and borrow "inspiration" from them
also for some nice colour work have a look at the NZXT phantom http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/crafted_series/phantom, there's also a special edition in white, with red details and black mesh, Black, with green details and black mesh and black with orange details and black mesh.
