Yeah, The C300/M4s are defo up there in terms of reliability. To be fair, all of the stuff I've had from Crucial has been excellent.

    Re: I took a Gamble

I'm wondering if these are really refurbs or just excess old stock they want to get rid of.

Maybe they are just ones that customers have failed to do firmware updates on?

    Sounds promising, I've ordered a 128GB too.

Mine just arrived. Was white boxed, has marker pen on for the firmware (v7) and a refurbished stamp. Only sign of use externally is a few marks on the SATA connectors. Will test and post smart stats sometime this afternoon after the f1 qualifying...

    Re: I took a Gamble

smart is good if im reading it right
    my boot drive f60

    The 128gb c300

I can see the limitations of my flipping motherboard though.... look at these benches:

    F60

    C300

    F60 atto

    C300

Dont like how atto is failing to get past 150 read! Im thinking either duff drive or it really is my motherboard holding back again without ahci only NCQ (or so asus says), comparing it to the hexus benches its clear it should do better http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=30998&page=3

edit: no it doesnt come with a bracket, ordered mine thankfully

    No, just the bare drive

    Edit:

So the drive itself looks new but it's definitely been plugged in before as the SATA contacts show very light marks:

The SMART stats indicate it's had no use but I wonder if those were simply reset when the firmware was flashed:

It runs rings around my old 32GB Samsung SLC drive (essentially an OCZSSD2-1S32G):

    64GB C300:

    32GB Samsung MCBQE32G5MPP-0VA:

    2TB WD GP for comparison:

(updated with benchmarks for an idle system - was transcoding video earlier - slight increases for both SSDs but no major change)

There was someone here who used a PCI SATA 3 card and lost speed over just using it with the onboard SATA 2 but, I can't remember who it was and what chipset the SATA3 card used.
