The GTX480 hovers between 90 and 100 degrees centigrade during the above tests so I'm inclined to take back my previous statement, nVidia seem to have created a heater that can also do graphics processing.
I still wouldn't be comfortable with a GTX480 running at those temps.
In light of what's been posted since I agree with scaryjim that this sounds like a driver issue. You may want to do some benchmark tests when you roll back your driver as well as testing RO2.
mine never gets above 58, got to love water cooling

WC aintt cheap. nearly the same cost as a new mid/high end GPU!
anyways i reformated and installed win 7 again(took 30mins in total on my ssd ) and ran the intel burn test but when i woke up my pc was automaically restarted because of windows updates!
No BSOD so far and at this moment i ran the intel burn test again while im at work today.
If that has been cleared then which tool should i use to test my GPU? the 3dmark one? how long is the benchmark? is it another job that takes a few hours and best to do while im out or sleeping?
Is it worth doing a mmTest as well o is Intel burn test sufficient?
Basically im doing what someone in another forum suggested and that is to do a reformat, and run some tests and benchmarks for my cpu, ram and GPU. If all tests pass with no BSOD i can test RO2 and see if any more BSOD happens. if it does then i can assume the game is screwed and needs patching.
Can anybody spec me a mid range WC kit for my GPU? wanna see how much that would cost
msi kombustor will thrash it within an inch of its life.
and chance is the fan profiles not hitting 100%, you can use msi afterburner to create a custom fan profile to move the upper limit to 100% as i don't think the default profile does hit 100%
you can also set it to 100% sooner than defalt.
and yes msi afterburner works on all makes.
cheap water coolings about as good as a decent after marker cooler, so i wouldnt go down that path just yet m8

How long do u run Furmark ?
If you're using Furmark to get a 480GTX make sure you get a version that isn't blocked in the driver - nvidia started getting huffy about people overstressing their graphics cards and basically took a big hammer to the problem (unlike AMD, who introduced an intelligently, finely-grained power management system ). One part of that big hammer was basically clocking the card down to idle if it detected a stress-testing program in use...
grr so i gotta rollback to a old driver to get it stress test my card? why the hell did nvidia remove it?

But i heard EVGA are a good brand right?
they have a great warranty but still use refrence hardware in most cases.
josh, go download msi afterburner & kombustor from guru3d.com, try what i said in previous posts before you do anything else.
