so far running an xtreme burn test on kombustor for about 20mins so far and my gpu teps have not gone above 78c. i have tweaked the fan profile so when its over 75c, the fan speeds around 80%, when it reaches near 90c i make it spin 100%.
will let it run for a few hours. runing full 1080p res screen, dx11 and AA/AF 8x. is this the max load this kombustor app can do?
that would be enough to stress test it, if it copes ok run an app to thrash the cpu as well such as intel burn test.
the new fan profiles alone may have cured it. a good chance the beta drivers broke the fan profile

The next stress test you should do is running a CPU/RAM intensive task (like prime95) and a GPU intensive task (like Furmark) at the same time. This should simulate the worst possible scenario for your PC and bring heat levels to absolute maximum.
If a PC survives that for a few hours it can be considered rock solid, in terms of hardware stability.
thx
might try that
well i did not have time to run both for long so i ran it for 10mins and all was well. temps peaked at 82c but it was throttling up and down occasionally as i believe that because the CPU was also getting hammered, the kombuster stress test had some lag
see how u get on with the new fan profile then
