I think that so long as they keep the pins on the CPU and not on the Mobo, allwill be well, and we'll all be buying them anyway.

Unlike Intel's new porcupine motherboards...what are they thinking of?

Considering I chat to quite a few indy's on a daily basis, I know that quite a few of them are only dealing with S754's and haven't/won't be bothering with S940 and S939's (not for a while anyway).

Quite a few seem to be quite pissed with the way manufacturers hype up their latest products only to replace it completely within 5-6 weeks! Which is understandable considering the amount of time and vast amounts of money they have to spend, not just on CPUs, but boards, fans and the whole load of other extra's involved, and at the end of the day its gonna hurt these smaller companies.

Personally I think S754 will be replace SocketA as the standard.

Next years dual core CPU's will almost certainly entail new sockets all round i'm afraid.
