Simple question for you lot....
At the moment I am probably going to hold off buying one of the new generation gfx cards, wait until next year, then go socket 939 with pci-express, etc.
I'm trying to estimate how much I need to save (I know prices will change, etc), and a lot of this depends on how many of my existing parts I can use. I've only just bought a new HDD sooooo the question is: Can you get a SATA to EIDE adapter, or something similar? I'm not fussed about SATA at the moment, I would rather get an adapter and then change my hard drives later when I can afford it.
Also, I've seen that normal DDR (albeit the 3200 stuff) can be used with some Athlon 64 boards; is that right? I have a stick of TwinMOS 3200 that may migrate, helping the cost. In time I'll replace everything, but for the momen my priority is getting the new board, processor, and gfx card. That in itself should cost me plenty
