perhaps if you ask him nice enough he'll let you try his gpu for size, naturally you'll have to change the drivers, but it might give you an indication as to what is causing the bottle-neck.

i think it would be obvious that the 9800xt will improve performance . So not really worth it, plus he wont. anyone else know a solution to my prob. I only need a slight fps improvement. I think ram is the it, but im not the pro .

800x600 which is the lowest ive ever had to run anygame, including UT2004/MOHAA/COD/SOF2/NFSU2
somethings wrong if you can't run smooth at those settings. It would suggest cpu/memory limitation but i doubt it is at that low a setting

I have a mate with that GC, his Overclocks ALOT.. Try upping the clock speeds and see if that improves performance..

He's right, it still sounds like a network problem. Do you play any other online games? I know you’re sharing a line with someone else and its fine for them, but it could be an issue with the router or Ethernet port.

would it be possible that one of my components or something in my case has worn out or not connected properly. My ping is stable and usually better then the other guys ping. I never get ping lag, just fps lag, i can see it drop down to 12-15 at some points which everyone knows is unplayable. Pudds u are obviouly suprised that it isnt running smooth. I am also. It should be runningt his game without many probs at this settings. Could i have created a fault in the hardware or something. I dont know too much

    thanks

And it runs other games fine? Maybe software troubles?

definatley something wrong - i have almost identical system and it works absolutly fine at 1280 x 1024, no AF, no AA on 1mb ADSL only difference is i have Abit mobo and abit gf4.

Are you running file sharing apps while playing - on any PC on the network?

also - check the 'collisions' light on the hub - if that comes on a lot buy a switch - you should buy a switch anyway

Purple do u have an msn i can talk to you on. As it would be easier. My pc runs othergames fine. Its 3 years old my graphics and mobo are asus which aint bad makes. My counterstrike source settings compared to purples are vastly different and looking at this there must be something wrong. got no idea what a collision light is
